Most night shifts in care feel isolating and thankless, but this one is different. You'll be the steady, awake presence that keeps vulnerable families safe and supported through the dark hours, working in a residential family assessment centre where your calm matter-of-factness genuinely changes lives. If you're naturally caring, can stay alert when others sleep, and want meaningful work that actually pays you fairly for doing it, read on

Imagine clocking in at 8pm as part of a nurturing team that supports parents and their babies through some of the most challenging weeks of their lives. You're not just a night-time supervisor you're a friendly face during a crisis, a helping hand when a parent is exhausted, a reassuring presence that says 'you're not alone in this.' The work is real and it matters: parents come to this centre needing parenting assessment and support, and your waking night hours are when vulnerability is highest and your calm presence counts most

You'll carry out security checks, stay alert, and be ready to step in when families need you. It's not glamorous, but it's honest work with genuine team backing. This provider invests seriously in their staff: you'll get a comprehensive paid induction, access to QCF qualifications to build your career, Circle wellbeing support including counselling, and a Blue Light discount card that unlocks savings across high street retailers, days out and holidays

The shift pattern is 8pm to 8am on a rolling rota, 24 hours per week with potential overtime. The pay is £13.45 to £14.05 per hour plus a £1.10 waking night uplift, recognised as a Real Living Wage employer. You'll also bank 5.6 weeks annual leave including public holidays, have your Enhanced DBS check paid for, and get access to a NEST pension with matched contributions up to 3%. If you refer someone who joins and completes probation, you'll split a £500 bonus between you
