Most night shifts in care feel like you're just counting down the hours until morning. But the young people in our homes don't stop needing support when the sun goes down - and neither should you. This role is different: you'll be the calm, trusted presence that helps traumatised young people through their darkest moments, and you'll be rewarded properly for doing it
Imagine being the person a young person reaches for at 3am when their past trauma surfaces, when they're ill, when they can't sleep. You're not just there - you're skilled, patient, and genuinely trusted. That moment when they realise someone actually understands them? That's a huge small victory. Those are the moments that define this role
Our homes support young people with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Your waking night shifts mean you're fully present, fully awake, fully capable of reading what each young person actually needs in that moment. You'll build real relationships through the quiet hours - and in the calmer times, you'll keep the home running smoothly with paperwork, cleaning and laundry. It's real work that genuinely matters
You'll join a provider that invests seriously in its people. A full 4-week induction through our Care Academy means you'll start confident and supported, not thrown in at the deep end. Most of our team leaders and managers started exactly where you're starting - and if you've got ambition, there's an 'Aspire' future managers programme waiting for you
What you will be doing
- Provide skilled, empathetic support to young people through the night - responding to trauma responses, illness, distress and sleep difficulties with calm presence and understanding
- Build trust and rapport with each young person, becoming someone they can rely on in their time of need
- Complete paperwork, cleaning and laundry tasks during quieter night hours to keep the home running smoothly
- Work the waking nights rota of 4 nights on, 4 nights off, bringing full presence and energy to each shift
Why you will love working here
- Real money for real work: £29,449 to £32,496 base salary, plus £1,400 attendance allowance if you maintain good attendance - that's up to £33,896
- 7 weeks' holiday annually, plus a flexible benefits package where you can adjust your holiday allowance, pension and life insurance to suit your life
- A proper 4-week Care Academy induction so you'll feel confident and supported from day one, not scared
- Medical cover so you can claim back costs at the opticians, dentist and elsewhere, plus high-street discounts
- Clear career progression - most of our managers started as support workers, and we have an 'Aspire' future managers programme if that's your goal, plus a £1,000 recommend-a-friend bonus scheme
Is this you?
- Is this you: someone with genuine empathy who actually cares about young people and wants to be part of their healing
- A 'can do' attitude - a team player who rolls up their sleeves and helps others without making a fuss
- The resilience to stay calm and supportive when faced with challenging situations and difficult emotions
- A full UK driving licence that you've held for at least 12 months
- No care experience needed - if you don't have a Level 3 Diploma in childcare or equivalent, we'll pay for you to study and support you every step of the way
