Most therapeutic roles in residential care feel fragmented: you're pulled between crisis management, paperwork, and working in isolation from the team who actually know these young people best. This is different. We're looking for a therapist or clinical specialist who wants to work embedded in a home where your expertise shapes everything, your recommendations are acted on, and you see the real impact of your work every single day
Imagine a working week where you're not firefighting. You walk into a children's home where the care staff have been trained by you, where your assessment of a young person's needs directly informs their daily care plan, and where you can follow a case through from formulation to genuine recovery. This is what onsite therapy does: it turns isolated interventions into a whole-system shift
The young people here get you consistently. They're not being passed between different services; you know their family history, their triggers, their small victories. You attend their reviews, advise the team on what works, adjust your approach based on what you're seeing in the home environment. That responsiveness isn't just good practice - it's how real therapeutic change happens
You'd be joining a team of exceptional in-house therapists who share your commitment to identifying ongoing needs, reviewing progress regularly, and supporting the care staff to deliver a genuinely holistic approach. This isn't a solo clinical post. It's collaborative, it's trusted, and it's the kind of environment where skilled therapists actually want to stay
What you will be doing
- Assess and formulate the clinical and therapeutic needs of young people living in the home, identifying what's driving their behaviour and emotional presentation
- Deliver direct therapeutic intervention tailored to each young person's specific presentation and needs
- Work closely with the care team to translate your clinical understanding into practical, everyday support strategies they can implement consistently
- Contribute to regular reviews of each young person's progress, adjusting your approach and recommendations as you see what's working
- Support and advise the care staff, helping them understand the young people in their care from a therapeutic and clinical perspective
- Help create and maintain a therapeutic environment where the young people feel safe, understood, and supported to achieve their potential
Why you will love working here
- Work in a therapeutic home where your clinical expertise is valued, listened to, and acted on - not filed away
- Be part of a skilled in-house therapy team where you'll learn from colleagues and contribute to a genuinely integrated approach to care
- See the real outcomes of your work: these young people live here, so you get to follow their journey from crisis to stability to genuine recovery
- Access to a team committed to ongoing learning and reflective practice - a home that invests in staff development as much as it does in clinical excellence
- Flexibility and respect: a provider that understands that good clinical work requires time, space, and a culture that values your professional judgment
Is this you?
- You hold a relevant professional qualification - clinical psychology, occupational therapy, behaviour therapy, or an equivalent clinical or therapeutic specialism recognised in the UK
- You have experience working with children and young people in residential, therapeutic, or clinical settings
- You're genuinely curious about why young people behave the way they do, and you see the care environment as part of the solution, not just a place where problems happen
- You can communicate clearly with non-clinical staff and actually enjoy building a team approach rather than working in isolation
- You're organised, reflective, and comfortable with regular case review and outcome measurement
