Most night shift care roles leave you exhausted and undervalued. But this one is different: you'll lead the night team at a residential home where your seniority is real, your medication responsibility is trusted, and your impact on residents' wellbeing happens when it matters most. If you've got solid residential care experience and the confidence to mentor other staff, this could be the role that finally feels like a step up
Picture yourself arriving at 9pm as the person other carers look to for guidance. You're not just delivering personal care - you're the senior voice during the quiet hours when residents need that extra reassurance. You dispense medications with confidence, support residents through personal care routines like bathing and dressing, and help manage incontinence care with the dignity and calm that only comes from real experience. And crucially, you're training and supervising the team around you, which means your years in residential care are finally being recognised and rewarded
Night shifts suit a certain kind of person, and if you're that person, the benefits stack up fast. Three nights a week means you've got genuine daytime flexibility - not the exhausted fog that full-time nights can trap you in. Free parking on-site, uniform and equipment supplied, a proper company pension, and pay that reflects your seniority at up to £15 per hour. You're not scratching by; you're building something sustainable
This is a home where residents' quality of life isn't just policy - it's how they work. You'll see your role as helping people live as full and enjoyable a life as their health permits, which means you're not just processing tasks. You're supporting real people. And when you've got that mindset, a team behind you, and the authority to lead during your shifts, you feel the difference in your work every single night
What you will be doing
- Lead and supervise other staff during night shifts, setting the tone for a calm, responsive service between 9pm and 7am
- Dispense medications safely and accurately, with full responsibility for resident health during your hours
- Deliver personal care with dignity: bathing, dressing, toileting, and incontinence support tailored to each resident's needs
- Build genuine relationships with residents, actively supporting them to enjoy their evenings and nights despite any health challenges
- Update care records and handle administrative duties so the day team has a clear handover
Why you will love working here
- Pay up to £15 per hour as recognition of your seniority and experience
- Only three nights per week - 9pm to 7am shifts - so you keep real daytime flexibility and avoid the burnout of full-time nights
- Free on-site parking and uniform supplied, so you're not out of pocket before you even start
- A company pension so your night shifts are actually building your future
- The chance to lead, mentor and shape the night team - your experience actually counts for something
Is this you?
- You've got a minimum of one year's solid experience in residential care - you know the sector, you know the rhythms, you know what good looks like
- You're medication trained and confident handling that responsibility independently
- You're naturally a leader - not bossy, but someone other carers respect and turn to when they need direction during a shift
- You're someone who genuinely cares about residents as people, not just service users - you take a real interest in their lives and wellbeing
