Most team leader roles in children's care ask you to manage the chaos without the tools, the training, or the genuine career path to back you up. This one is different. We're looking for someone ready to lead a residential team supporting young people aged 12 - 17, with real investment in your development, clear progression into management, and a provider that actually means it when they say they grow their own leaders
Picture this: you walk into the home each shift knowing exactly what you're there to do. You're not just reacting to crises or covering gaps - you're actively shaping how your team shows up, how the young people experience safety and belonging, and how everyone around you develops their confidence and skill. That's what leadership looks like here. You'll mentor less experienced staff, model the standard of care that transforms lives, and advocate fiercely for each young person's needs. It matters. Every single day, it matters
This provider has been building trust in children's social care for over 25 years. They're not a flash-in-the-pan outfit - they run residential homes, family assessment services, supported living for 16-year-olds, and learning disability support across multiple locations. That stability means they can invest in you properly: a tailored induction, ongoing leadership training, continuous professional development, and fully funded qualifications delivered through their own nationally accredited training centre. You're not paying for your own growth here. They are
The career path is mapped out. Move from Team Leader into Deputy Manager, then Registered Manager, then senior leadership roles as the service expands. This is an organisation actively growing, which means new doors opening for people who prove themselves. You're not climbing a ladder with missing rungs - you're joining a team that's built progression in from the start and genuinely expects to promote from within
What you will be doing
- Lead the day-to-day running of the home, supporting care for children aged 12 - 17 in a safe, homely environment that feels genuine, not institutional
- Mentor and supervise team members, developing their skills and confidence so the whole team gets stronger under your leadership
- Help young people meet their physical, emotional, social, and educational needs; build the relationships that help them develop and succeed
- Teach and model independence through daily living skills - the practical stuff that prepares them for adult life
- Work flexibly across days, waking nights, and sleep-ins so the home runs smoothly around the clock and young people have consistent, reliable adults
- Advocate relentlessly for each young person's best interests and ensure high standards of care are delivered consistently
Why you will love working here
- Competitive pay structured to reflect your experience and leadership responsibilities - you're valued and fairly rewarded, not undercut
- Clear progression pathways into Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, and senior leadership roles as the service grows and your capability increases
- Fully funded qualifications and ongoing leadership development delivered through a nationally accredited training centre - they invest in your growth, full stop
- A collaborative, supportive team culture where your ideas are genuinely valued and you're backed to lead with real confidence
- Wellbeing initiatives and strong leadership support so you stay resilient, motivated, and able to sustain the emotional labour this work demands
Is this you?
- You hold a Level 3 Diploma in Children's Care or equivalent, and you're willing to work towards a management qualification to deepen your leadership
- You've got experience supporting or mentoring others in a team - you know how to bring out the best in people and create psychological safety
- You understand the home Regulations and Quality Standards, or you're ready to get up to speed quickly because you take compliance seriously
- You're calm and resilient under pressure. When things get complex or challenging, you think clearly and lead by example rather than panic
- You're proactive, genuinely passionate about improving outcomes for young people, and you bring strong communication, empathy, and emotional awareness to everything you do
