Most care homes treat their senior staff like supervisors on a clipboard, not leaders shaping culture and growing people. This one is different: you'll step into a role where your voice genuinely moves the needle, where mentoring junior staff matters as much as the hands-on care you deliver, and where the team you build becomes your legacy

Picture this: you're walking through the home on your shift, and you spot a new care worker hesitating at a resident's door. You step in, not to correct, but to coach. That moment - when you see the penny drop, when they realise they've got this - that's the job. You're not just covering shifts; you're building a team that knows how to show up with real compassion and skill

The residents here aren't faces on a rota. They're individuals with rhythms, preferences, stories. You'll be the person who ensures that personalized care isn't just a policy - it's what actually happens. You'll liaise with their GPs, read their changes, catch the small things that matter, and make sure the handovers tell the real story of their day

And here's the thing: the home values people who grow. Professional development isn't a box to tick. It's how this place works. You'll mentor juniors, you'll develop yourself, and you'll see staff stay because they know their growth matters here

What you will be doing

  • Support and assist residents with all aspects of daily living - personal care, medications, toileting, bathing - delivering a high level of compassionate, person-centred care every shift
  • Train, supervise and mentor junior and new staff members, showing them how to do the work with skill and kindness, and feeding back to senior staff on their progress
  • Respond to the nurse call system and answer the door and telephone professionally, giving residents and visitors the care and attention they deserve
  • Report on residents' wellbeing, liaise with GPs and support managers, and carry out regular welfare checks at the intervals set by senior staff
  • Manage rotas and care arrangements to meet individual residents' needs, and complete all required documentation - changeovers, keyworker notes - within agreed timeframes

Why you will love working here

  • £14.30 per hour - a real rate for real responsibility
  • Professional development that actually happens: you'll be encouraged and supported to grow in your role
  • Employee of the Month recognition and long-service awards that say 'we see what you do'
  • Blue Light Card discount to ease life outside work
  • The chance to build something: to mentor a team, shape culture, and know that the people around you are better at their job because of you

Is this you?

  • You have hands-on care experience and you're comfortable supporting residents with personal care and daily living tasks
  • You've got the patience and people skills to train and encourage junior staff, spotting potential and helping them grow
  • You're organised enough to juggle rotas, documentation and resident checks without losing sight of the human side of the work
  • You believe in person-centred care - you listen to what residents actually need, not just what the schedule says
  • You're reliable, responsive, and you show up with warmth even on the hard days
