Most care jobs feel like you're treading water - same routines, same four walls, little chance to actually lead or grow. This is different. We're looking for an experienced carer ready to step up as a Team Leader in a thriving residential home where your voice shapes how things run, your mentoring genuinely develops junior staff, and residents aren't just cases - they're community

Picture this: you arrive at a home where up to 60 residents aren't just living, they're thriving. Arts and crafts sessions, dance classes, gardens that residents actually use, private terraces for quiet moments. Your job? Make sure the care underneath it all is rock solid. You'll be the one assisting with daily living - bathing, medications, toileting - but crucially, you'll be the one making sure every member of your team knows how to do it with real compassion and person-centred thinking

As Team Leader you're not just clocking in. You're supporting and training junior and new staff members across every aspect of their work. You're running rotas that actually match what residents need. You're completing handover documentation properly and on time. You're liaising with GPs and Support Managers so nothing falls through the cracks. This isn't micromanagement - it's leadership that counts

The home's values aren't wall posters here: responsive care, warm environments, person-centred approaches, and real investment in staff development. That last one matters to you because you'll be the one building your team, encouraging training, and watching people grow under your watch. the home near Hatfield Peverel has created something special - your job is to keep it that way

What you will be doing

  • Support and train junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work, ensuring they deliver high-level personal and psychological care to residents
  • Assist residents with daily living needs - medications, toileting, bathing and personal care - maintaining the highest standards of dignity and compassion
  • Answer the nurse call system promptly, manage telephone and door enquiries, and respond to requests with appropriate urgency
  • Arrange and manage rotas to meet individual resident care requirements, ensuring consistent and reliable support across shifts
  • Report on residents' wellbeing, liaise with GPs and Support Managers, and carry out regular welfare checks at intervals set by senior staff
  • Complete handover and keyworker documentation to a high standard, ensuring all records are finished within agreed timeframes

Why you will love working here

  • £14.30 per hour - real pay for real responsibility
  • A chance to genuinely mentor and develop junior staff, shaping how your team delivers care every single day
  • Access to professional development so your own skills and confidence keep growing
  • Employee of the Month recognition when you go above and beyond
  • Blue Light Card benefits and a Refer a Friend scheme, plus long-service awards as you build your career here

Is this you?

  • You have genuine experience in residential care and you're ready to step into a leadership role - not managing from above, but leading by example
  • You naturally show compassion and respond to individual needs; you see residents as whole people, not tasks to tick off
  • You're organised enough to run rotas and paperwork properly, but human enough that staff actually want to learn from you
  • You believe in training and self-development - both for yourself and the team you'll build around you
  • You're reliable, professional, and comfortable liaising with GPs, managers and families as part of day-to-day care coordination
