Most care roles ask you to manage chaos while drowning in bureaucracy. This one puts you in charge of a small, dedicated team supporting young adults stepping into independence, with the backing to lead properly and the systems to make your safeguarding actually count. If you've got the experience and the hunger to shape how a team works, this is the role where your voice matters

You walk into the home each shift knowing exactly what you're building towards: young people aged 16+ learning to live independently, with you and your team holding the structure that makes it possible. This isn't crisis management. It's deliberate, outcomes-led work where stability breeds progress. The young people here are transitioning into their own lives, and your leadership directly shapes whether they make it

As the Senior, you're not drowning in everyone else's problems: you're mentoring your support workers to handle them better. You'll run team shifts, set the tone for how safeguarding and risk management actually happens (not just gets written down), and build the relationships with Social Workers and Local Authorities that keep placements solid. The home is Ofsted-registered, which means the systems are there, the expectations are clear, and your leadership is what makes them work in practice

This is a role where your professional growth matters. You're not replacing people; you're developing them. You're not hiding behind policies; you're shaping how they land. And you're doing it somewhere that understands that trauma-informed care isn't a buzzword - it's how you actually help young people who've had rough starts

What you will be doing

  • Lead and mentor your team of support workers across shifts, setting the standard for how care and safeguarding actually get done
  • Oversee daily safeguarding protocols and risk management plans, making sure nothing slips and acting fast when it needs to
  • Be the key point of contact for Social Workers and Local Authorities - the person they trust to give them the real picture and keep placements stable
  • Manage documentation and daily logs so the home meets Ofsted standards; you're the one making sure compliance isn't a burden, it's built in

Why you will love working here

  • Lead a small, dedicated team where your mentoring actually changes how your support workers grow and how young people experience care
  • Work in an Ofsted-registered home with clear systems, proper safeguarding structures, and the backing to do your job properly without fighting the organisation
  • Build real relationships with Social Workers and Local Authorities as the trusted senior who keeps placements stable and outcomes real
  • Work shifts with a team that understands the work, not a revolving door of burnout and turnover

Is this you?

  • You've got solid experience in residential or supported living care, ideally with young people aged 16+, and you've done this work well enough to know what good looks like
  • You've got natural leadership: you can mentor others without making it feel like management, and your team respects you because you've walked the same path
  • Safeguarding and risk management aren't things you do; they're things you live. You spot patterns, you act before things escalate, and you document clearly because you know why it matters
  • You're comfortable with regulation and systems - Ofsted language, daily logs, compliance - and you see them as tools that help, not hoops to jump through
  • You've got the resilience and emotional intelligence for trauma-informed care. You get that these young people have histories, and you meet that with patience and consistency
