Most care jobs leave you exhausted and underpaid. This one doesn't. You'll lead a small team supporting young people with complex emotional and mental health needs in a home where your leadership genuinely matters, your salary reflects your value, and the training actually prepares you to succeed

Picture yourself noticing the moment a young person who's been silent for weeks finally laughs at something you said. That's a Team Leader role here. You're not just managing a rota; you're part of someone's day to day life during their most difficult years. You're the steady adult who helps them get their childhood back and builds the foundations for them to become well-rounded, resilient adults. Those small victories feel huge when you're the one making them possible

Your job is to make sure the home runs smoothly while supporting your team to deliver exceptional care. You'll deputise for the managers when needed, which means real responsibility and real development. Most of the leaders here have been promoted from within, and many have gone through the Aspire future managers programme. This isn't a dead-end role; it's a stepping stone in a career where you'll actually progress

You'll walk into a 4-week Care Academy induction run by experienced professionals who've done exactly what you're about to do. You won't be thrown in at the deep end. You'll have proper training, a supportive team around you, and access to wellbeing support because we know this work is emotionally demanding. The difference is: here, that support actually exists and is genuinely used

What you will be doing

  • Lead the day to day care and support for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, building relationships and creating the conditions for them to thrive
  • Support and develop your staff team, making sure they're equipped to do their best work and that the home operates to consistently high standards
  • Step up to deputise for the Registered and Deputy Managers, taking on additional leadership responsibilities as needed
  • Be present for the highest highs and the lowest lows, providing compassionate, emotionally intelligent support when it matters most
  • Contribute to creating lasting memories and positive pathways for young people while maintaining the practical running of the home

Why you will love working here

  • Salary of £35,400 to £42,664 base, plus up to £2,880 per year in sleep-in fees (at £80 per sleep), plus Attendance Allowance up to £1,400, Regional Allowance of £2,000, Responsibility Allowance of £1,500, a £1,000 Welcome Bonus on completion of probation, and £1,000 Loyalty Bonus
  • Seven weeks' holiday per year because you work hard and deserve it, plus a flexible benefits package where you can adjust your holiday, pension and life insurance to suit your life
  • A full 4-week Care Academy induction with experienced professionals, not a day-one sink-or-swim scenario
  • Real career progression: most team leaders and managers here have been promoted from within, and you can join the Aspire future managers programme if you're serious about development
  • Wellbeing support including an employee assistance programme, medical cover for opticians and dentist appointments, meals provided while you work, and high-street discounts - plus we know the culture matters, so we've built a workplace where you can bring your whole self to work

Is this you?

  • Is this you: someone with genuine compassion for young people and the resilience to stay steady when things get challenging?
  • You hold the Level 3 Children's Residential Care qualification (or are willing to work towards it)
  • You're a team player with a 'can do' attitude who rolls up their sleeves and supports others without being asked
  • You've held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
  • You're emotionally intelligent, honest, and genuinely interested in creating positive change in young people's lives, even the smallest victories that feel huge
