Most care roles leave you exhausted, undervalued and wondering if you're making a real difference. This is different. We're looking for an experienced, confident Team Leader to step into a role where your leadership directly shapes the lives of young people who need you most - and where the team around you actually has your back
Picture this: you're leading a small, tight-knit team in a children's residential home where young people with complex needs get the space and stability to grow. Your role isn't managing paperwork - it's mentoring staff, building relationships with the young people in your care, and creating the kind of safe environment where real change happens. You'll be hands-on, visible, and genuinely involved in the day-to-day life of the home
The team here respects leadership that's earned, not just given. You'll work alongside carers who are committed and reflective, who ask the hard questions and celebrate the small wins. Training and development aren't an afterthought - they're built into how the service operates. Your experience will be valued. Your ideas will matter. And you'll be part of a provider that invests in getting the fundamentals right: good supervision, clear support structures, and a genuine commitment to the young people's wellbeing
This is the kind of role where after a year, you'll look back and see the impact you've had - not just on the young people, but on your team's confidence and capability. Growth happens naturally when you're working somewhere that trusts you to lead
What you will be doing
- Lead and supervise a small team of residential care workers, providing clear direction, regular one-to-ones and the kind of practical support that helps people do their best work
- Be present in the home during your shifts - working alongside your team, building relationships with the young people, and modelling the values and practice standards that matter
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the home: rotas, handovers, incident recording, and ensuring safeguarding and care standards are met consistently
- Identify training and development needs within your team and support carers to grow their skills and confidence in role
- Work closely with the management team to implement policies, respond to young people's changing needs, and contribute to the strategic direction of the service
Why you will love working here
- Competitive salary with clear progression - this is a step up in responsibility and recognition for experienced carers ready to lead
- Full-time or part-time hours available across multiple Lancashire locations (Blackburn, Chorley, Preston), so you can choose what fits your life
- Genuine investment in your development: training, supervision and the space to grow as a leader, not just manage a rota
- Work for a provider that takes safeguarding and staff wellbeing seriously - you won't be left unsupported
- Be part of a team where your experience is valued and your leadership makes a visible difference every single day
Is this you?
- You have substantial experience working in children's residential care - ideally in a supervisory or senior care worker role - and you understand what good practice looks like
- You're a confident communicator and natural leader: you can motivate a team, have difficult conversations when needed, and inspire trust through your actions
- You hold a current Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent recognised qualification) - or you're willing to work towards it with our support
- You're comfortable with the realities of the role: shift work, on-call responsibilities, and the emotional weight of caring for young people with complex and often challenging needs
- You're 21 or over and willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
