Most care jobs ask you to change young people's lives on a shoestring budget and a skeleton team. This one doesn't. We're looking for a Team Leader who wants the real thing: a role where you'll lead a strong staff team, earn properly for your work, and actually see the small victories that make this job worth doing

Imagine clocking in knowing you're part of a home that genuinely invests in its young people and its staff. You'll work with teenagers who've had a rough ride - young people with social, emotional and mental health needs who deserve someone steady, compassionate and real. As a Team Leader, you're not just another cog: you'll shape the culture of the home, mentor your team, and be the person who steps up when things matter most

The best part? Those moments nobody writes about in job specs. A young person who hasn't trusted an adult in years finally opens up. A teenager you've supported finds their feet. A team that's stressed and fractured because of you starts to believe in what you're all doing together. That's what you get out of this

We back that up properly. You'll go through a full 4-week Care Academy induction with experienced professionals before you're running the show solo. Most of our managers came up from team leader roles - this is a genuine career path, not a dead end. And the money? Base of £35,400 rising to £42,664 depending on your skills and performance, plus up to £2,880 a year from sleep-ins, up to £1,400 attendance allowance, a £2,000 regional allowance, a £1,000 welcome bonus, and a £1,000 loyalty bonus after your first year. That adds up to real money for real commitment

What you will be doing

  • Lead and support the staff team day to day, making sure everyone is working to the same high standards and has what they need to do the job well
  • Be the presence in the home that our young people need - part of their daily life, there for the highs and lows, building relationships that actually change outcomes
  • Step up to deputise for the Registered and Deputy Managers, taking on extra responsibility when needed and helping run the home at full capacity
  • Organise the home's routines and activities, creating the kind of environment where young people can be themselves and build lasting memories
  • Make sure the team is supported emotionally and practically - knowing when someone needs a word, when standards are slipping, and how to inspire people to do better

Why you will love working here

  • Proper pay: £35,400 to £42,664 base salary, plus sleep-in payments (up to £2,880 yearly), attendance allowance, regional allowance, and welcome and loyalty bonuses that stack up to real money
  • A genuine 4-week induction through our Care Academy so you start confident and supported, not thrown in the deep end
  • Seven weeks' holiday a year - the kind of break you actually need after the intensity of this work
  • Career progression that's real: internal promotions from team leader to manager are the norm here, and you can join our Aspire programme to develop your management skills
  • A flexible benefits package where you control your pension, holiday and life insurance to suit your life, plus meals provided at work, employee assistance, medical cover for opticians and dentist costs, and high-street discounts
  • A £1,000 recommend-a-friend bonus every time someone you bring in joins - build your team and earn extra

Is this you?

  • You've got the Level 3 Children's Residential Care qualification (or you're willing to gain it as part of your development with us)
  • You're someone who genuinely cares - about our young people and about the people you'll be leading. Empathy isn't optional; it's who you are
  • You have the emotional resilience to handle challenging situations without falling apart, and the common sense to know when to ask for help
  • You hold a full UK driving licence that you've had for at least 12 months
  • You're a team player with a 'can do' attitude - the kind of person who rolls up their sleeves and helps others rather than watching from the sidelines
