Most residential care jobs feel like you're firefighting alone, juggling crisis after crisis with a team stretched thin and little chance to actually lead. This is different: it's a permanent role in a family-run home where you'll step into a genuine leadership position, work with children who've been through real trauma, and get proper support to do it well

You'll be supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs in a home built specifically around therapeutic care. That means in-house behavioural analysis, trauma-informed approaches, and individualised programmes designed to help each young person build real resilience and stability. It's the kind of work that stays with you because you see the actual change

As a Senior, you won't just deliver care - you'll lead shifts, mentor your team, and help shape the culture of the home. You'll work alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy, taking on responsibility for how the home runs day to day. For someone who wants to grow beyond hands-on care into genuine leadership without leaving the frontline, this is it

This is a family-run organisation committed to creating warm, stable homes where children actually thrive. You'll get proper training and supervision, clear opportunities for professional qualifications, and the kind of team culture where reflection and support aren't buzzwords - they're how you work

What you will be doing

  • Lead shifts and support the day-to-day running of the home, taking responsibility for how the team operates
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with the children and young people, helping them feel safe and valued while supporting emotional regulation through therapeutic strategies
  • Guide and mentor team members through encouragement, positive role modelling, and clear feedback
  • Help children process past experiences and develop the life skills they need to move forward
  • Maintain accurate records and reports using IT systems, and liaise with families and external professionals
  • Work with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to develop a strong, reflective, and supportive team culture

Why you will love working here

  • Salary of £36,862 to £38,662 per year inclusive of sleep-ins, with genuine permanent full-time employment
  • A real benefits package: private healthcare, pension scheme, paid annual leave, Blue Light Card eligibility (15,000+ discounts), gym discounts, free eye tests, cycle to work scheme, and Perk Box rewards
  • Training, supervision, and clear opportunities to gain professional qualifications - including working towards Level 3 Diploma if you haven't got it yet
  • Employee wellbeing support and a family-run organisation that actually invests in its team culture
  • Leadership experience that will take your career forward, working alongside a Registered Manager in a home specifically designed to do therapeutic care well

  • You're energetic and proactive, a strong team player with good communication skills, and you're committed to improving outcomes for young people
  • You're ready to work within a safeguarding and trauma-informed environment and understand why that matters
