Most SEND teaching roles trap you in a box: endless behaviour management, no real curriculum freedom, and students who've given up on learning. This is different. We're looking for a teacher who can design personalised learning routes for young people with complex needs, teach everything from GCSEs to archery, and actually see them re-engage with education and achieve their best outcomes
Picture this: you're working in a small, specialist school where every student matters and every lesson is built around what actually works for that young person. No cookie-cutter approach. You might be teaching functional skills one hour and mountain biking the next because this provider offers a genuinely broad and balanced curriculum including water sports, horse-riding and adventure activities alongside formal qualifications. Students who've struggled elsewhere start to believe learning is possible again
You'll work as a generalist teacher, which means real autonomy. You establish the personalised learning route, encourage pupils to research independently, set assignments that actually land, mark work that shows progress, and write reports that mean something because you know each student deeply. The school is small enough that your impact is visible and valued every single day
This isn't a place that burns teachers out. They invest in your professional development, offer fully funded training and qualifications for all staff, and back it up with enhanced pay scales based on your experience and qualifications. You get a proper pension (NEST enhanced scheme), enhanced maternity and paternity pay, life assurance, and access to an employee benefits scheme with wellbeing support and discounts. Armed Forces veterans are guaranteed an interview
What you will be doing
- Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that meets the complex needs and challenging behaviours of individual pupils
- Establish personalised learning routes as a generalist teacher, helping each student re-engage with education on their own terms
- Support pupils one-to-one and encourage them to research and explore topics independently
- Manage attendance registers, set homework and assignments, mark and record completion, and write progress reports with continuous assessment data
- Model the school's EPIC values and professional integrity, working collaboratively within the school community to keep the environment safe, respectful and nurturing
Why you will love working here
- Salary of £28,288 to £44,304 per year depending on your experience and qualifications, with enhanced pay scales that recognise what you bring
- Fully funded training and qualifications for all colleagues, so you keep growing and developing throughout your career
- NEST enhanced pension scheme, enhanced maternity and paternity pay, life assurance, and a real employee benefits package including wellbeing support
- Work in a small specialist school where your teaching actually transforms young people's lives and your impact is visible every day
- If you refer a friend to join us, you both split a £500 referral bonus - and if you're from a military background, you're guaranteed an interview
Is this you?
- Are you a committed and passionate teacher who genuinely believes students with SEND can achieve their best outcomes?
- Do you have at least two years' experience working in a SEND environment or similar specialist provision?
- Do you hold QTS or QTLS - this is essential for the role?
- Can you bring flexibility and creativity to a generalist teaching role, ready to work across a broad, balanced curriculum including adventure-based learning?
