Most part-time TA roles feel like you're just filling gaps and ticking boxes. This one is different: you'll be delivering real, targeted interventions that transform how individual children learn and grow, working within a school that actually prioritises respect, responsibility and resilience. If you hold Level 2 and want your work to genuinely matter, read on
Picture your week: you're working in a Year 2 classroom where you're not just supervising - you're running structured small-group interventions, spotting the moment a child clicks and building their independence. You work directly under the class teacher, but the progress you unlock is yours to own. You'll support children facing barriers to learning and those with SEND, adapting your approach daily to meet real needs, not just paperwork
The school culture is built around five things: respect, responsibility, resilience, reliability, and reflection. That means the behaviour you're modelling at lunch, on the playground, and in class actually sinks in. You're not managing chaos - you're shaping how children regulate themselves, solve problems, and show up for each other
And here's the practical bit that matters: you get weekly wages with no payroll charges eating into what you earn. You're supported by an education-led consultant who treats you like a person, not a number. Free training keeps your skills sharp, contributed pension is there for you, and holiday pay is genuine - either weekly or banked as you prefer
What you will be doing
- Deliver targeted small-group and one-to-one interventions under the class teacher's direction, focused on closing gaps and building confidence
- Support pupils with SEND and those facing barriers to learning, adapting activities to suit individual needs and learning styles
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence by modelling the school's core values throughout the day
- Prepare resources, supervise activities and contribute to classroom routines that keep learning flowing
- Record and report on pupils' progress, behaviour and well-being, so teachers have the intelligence they need to plan next steps
- Supervise safe play, lunch and breaktimes, creating spaces where children thrive
