The curriculum here is built around each child's actual needs, goals and strengths. Some pupils are working towards formal qualifications; others are developing the social, emotional and practical skills they'll need for adult life. You'll work 1:1 and in small groups, assisting with everything from traditional subjects like maths and English to real-life learning like communication, managing emotions, and independence skills
You won't be doing this alone. What you will be doing
- Assist teaching colleagues in classroom planning, teaching and assessing learning - adapting your approach to each pupil's individual communication and interaction needs
- Work 1:1 and in small group settings, keeping pupils engaged, motivated and inspired to reach their own learning goals, whether that's academic progress or life skills development
- Support pupils with a wide range of additional needs: communication and interaction difficulties, cognition and learning challenges, sensory and physical requirements
- Help update pupils' individual learning plans and create tailored learning materials that reflect their strengths and aspirations
- Drive pupils to trips and community activities (you'll have a vehicle provided - you just need a valid driving licence)
