Most SEND teaching roles ask you to manage chaos with outdated resources and a team stretched too thin. This independent specialist school for young people aged 11-16 with complex needs, EHCPs, ADHD and autism is different: they've invested in the systems, the training, and the colleagues who actually make the work sustainable and deeply rewarding

You'll walk into a school built on the EPIC values where your planning doesn't disappear into a filing cabinet - it shapes real, personalised learning journeys for young people who've been written off by mainstream education. Many of your students face exclusion or have already struggled there. Your job is to design teaching that meets their communication differences, sensory processing needs and severe learning needs head-on, adapting your approach moment by moment because you know these young people matter

The team here actually collaborates. You'll lead Teaching Assistants with clear guidance, work alongside families and other professionals who genuinely want to understand each child's progress, and help disseminate good practice across the whole school. There's no heroic martyrdom: this is organised, supported, collective work. You'll model professional integrity and help create an environment that's safe, respectful, and nurturing - and that starts with how colleagues treat each other

The investment in you is real. Fully funded training and qualifications for all staff, enhanced pension through Nest, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, and pay scales that rise with your experience and qualifications - starting at £28,288 and scaling to £44,304. There's a staff referral scheme too: bring a friend, you both share a £500 bonus. This is a provider that understands retention isn't about slogans; it's about resource

What you will be doing

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching that responds to the diverse needs of pupils with complex and challenging behaviours, communication differences and sensory processing needs
  • Adapt your teaching in real time to the strengths and needs of all pupils, setting high expectations that inspire and motivate them to build confidence and independence
  • Lead and provide clear guidance to Teaching Assistants, ensuring they understand the personalised approach for each young person
  • Work collaboratively with families and professionals across the school community to track and support children's progress, sharing what works across the wider staff team

Why you will love working here

  • Salary of £28,288 to £44,304 depending on experience and qualifications, on a full-time 40-hour week
  • Fully funded training and qualifications for all colleagues - your professional development isn't an afterthought
  • Enhanced pension through Nest, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, life assurance and access to a blue light discount card
  • A staff referral scheme: introduce a friend who joins, and you split a £500 bonus between you
  • School tours as part of the interview process - they actually want you to see the place and the team before you decide

Is this you?

  • You hold QTS or QTLS - that's non-negotiable, and you've got at least two years' hands-on experience in a SEND environment or similar provision
  • You're genuinely committed and passionate about young people with SEND - not burnt out, not counting down to Friday, but clear-eyed about what these young people need and ready to show up for it
  • You're collaborative by nature: you want to work alongside families, Teaching Assistants and other professionals, not in isolation
  • You believe high expectations and nurturing go together - that young people with complex needs deserve to be challenged and supported, not warehoused
