Most care jobs feel like you're just going through the motions, with little real training and even less belief that you'll actually move up. This one is different: you'll work in supported accommodation where young people are actively building independence, and the provider genuinely invests in developing you as a professional. If you want a role where you can see the impact every single day, and grow your skills properly, this is it

Picture this: you're supporting a young person who arrived with almost nothing - no qualifications, no work experience, no sense of where they could go. Six months in, you've helped them navigate education or training, you've built enough trust that they actually listen to you, and you're watching them develop the skills to live independently. That's the everyday reality in this supported accommodation setting. You're not just managing problems; you're building futures

The young people here are care leavers and teenagers from difficult backgrounds who've been let down by the system. They need staff who won't give up on them, who understand that trust takes time, and who can be the steady, reliable presence that actually changes how they see themselves. That's where you come in. You'll work with a team that's been doing this for over 20 years, who know what works, and who are serious about supporting your development as much as theirs

This isn't a provider that talks about training and then leaves you to figure it out alone. You'll get on-the-job accredited training, the chance to work towards NVQ qualifications, and access to accredited online courses. Regular supervisions mean you're never left wondering if you're doing it right. The team genuinely believes in continuous professional development, and they build time into your week to make it happen

What you will be doing

  • Offer practical support and guidance to young people in line with their individual care plan, helping them develop the real-world skills they need to live independently
  • Build and maintain positive, trusting relationships with the young people, your team and the professionals involved in their care - communication is everything
  • Support young people who are working towards accredited learning qualifications by tracking their progress and submitting evidence of completed work to their tutors
  • Help maintain links in the community - connecting young people with education provision, sports centres, youth clubs and other opportunities that matter

Why you will love working here

  • Up to £28,893.80 annually, including sleep-in shifts, so you know exactly what you're earning
  • On-the-job accredited training and the opportunity to work towards NVQ qualifications, plus access to accredited online courses
  • 28 days' annual leave, a pension scheme, and an employee discount scheme with access to over 740 retailers
  • Regular supervisions and a genuine commitment to your continuous professional development

Is this you?

  • You genuinely care about young people's futures and won't give up on them, even when progress feels slow
  • You're reliable, patient and can build trust with people who've had reason not to trust adults
  • You can communicate clearly and work positively with both the young people and the wider team around them
  • You're willing to develop yourself professionally - you want to gain qualifications and get better at what you do
