Most care jobs feel like you're just managing crisis and paperwork. This role is different: you'll be the trusted adult who actually changes a young person's trajectory, helping them build real skills, confidence and a genuine shot at independent adult life. If you've ever wanted your work to matter this much, this is it

You'll walk into a home where trust and honesty aren't slogans on a wall - they're how every day actually works. Your job is to create that relaxed, honest atmosphere where young people feel safe enough to grow. You'll be the consistent presence in their week, the one they know won't judge them, the one who notices when they're struggling and steps in

On any given day you might be helping a young person work through what independent living actually looks like - budgeting, cooking, laundry, the unglamorous stuff that actually determines whether they thrive or fall apart at 18. You'll run key work sessions that build their confidence, take them to activities that help them connect with peers, support them toward education or training goals. You'll keep detailed records so nothing gets missed and every professional involved knows exactly where this young person is

This role exists because young people who've experienced trauma deserve more than containment. They deserve someone who sees their potential and won't stop believing in it. You'll report safeguarding concerns and uphold their dignity every single day. The home you're part of stays clean, calm and organised - a real place where healing and growth can happen

What you will be doing

  • Create and maintain a relaxed, trusting atmosphere where young people feel safe to be themselves and honest about their struggles
  • Support young people with independent living skills - budgeting, cooking, cleaning, practical life skills - and work with them on education, training and employment goals
  • Deliver key work sessions and relationship-building activities that build confidence and social skills, and genuinely listen to what matters to each young person
  • Complete daily and weekly reports, keep records accurate and up to date, and communicate with relevant professionals about each young person's progress and any concerns
  • Be alert to safeguarding risks and report any indicators of abuse or neglect to management immediately; exercise your duty of care consistently
  • Keep the home clean and well-maintained daily, and report any property concerns to management

Why you will love working here

  • A role where your impact is tangible and immediate - you'll see young people develop real skills and genuine confidence
  • A home environment built on trust and honesty, where you're supported to do your best work without pointless bureaucracy getting in the way
  • Training and development that equips you to handle trauma-informed care and safeguarding properly, so you feel confident and competent
  • Membership of a team that takes duty of care seriously and has your back when things get difficult

Is this you?

  • You're someone who genuinely cares about vulnerable young people and won't give up on them, even on the hard days
  • You're reliable, organised and detail-minded - you complete reports thoroughly and on time because you know it matters
  • You can stay alert to safeguarding without being alarmist; you trust your instincts and you know when to escalate a concern
  • You're comfortable with both the practical side of care (cleaning, budgeting, meal support) and the relational side (listening, building trust, believing in potential)
  • You can work as part of a team and also hold your own in complex situations; you communicate clearly with colleagues and professionals
