Most care jobs feel like you're running on a treadmill: long shifts, patchy training, and the sense that nobody's really invested in your future. This is different. We're looking for a male support worker to join a specialist home supporting up to 10 adults with mental health needs, autism and learning disabilities - a place where the work genuinely changes lives, and where the organisation genuinely changes yours
You'll be part of a team running a homely, relaxed residential service where people can explore who they are safely, understand their diagnosis properly, and develop real coping strategies that reduce anxiety and challenging behaviour. It's structured care, but human-centred - the kind of environment where people actually thrive and gain control over their futures
Your days will blend routine care with genuine skill-building: supporting someone through their health appointment, teaching budgeting or cooking, encouraging a hobby that's become their passion, or simply providing the physical and emotional guidance that helps someone move through their day with dignity. You won't be a pair of hands; you'll be someone they trust
This provider backs that up properly. They've signed the Armed Forces Covenant, run a Real Living Wage policy, fund your Enhanced DBS check, and commit to training you from day one - QCF qualifications, paid induction, coaching and development as standard. They run three entire divisions across the UK supporting over 2,500 people. You're not joining a struggling home; you're joining a genuinely ambitious organisation that knows care done well is care invested in
What you will be doing
- Day-to-day support and routine: helping the people you support live their daily lives with consistency and safety
- Prompting independence and fulfillment: encouraging people to do what they can for themselves while helping them live well
- Health and medication support: accompanying people to appointments, administering medication, and maintaining their health care needs
- Life skills teaching: budgeting, paying bills, shopping, cooking and domestic tasks - the skills that let people manage their own lives
- Personal and emotional support: providing guidance, encouragement and the physical care needed, helping people through anxieties and difficult moments
Why you will love working here
- £14.05-£14.75 per hour, 36 hours per week, with 5.6 weeks annual leave including 8 public holidays
- Full Enhanced DBS check paid for by the provider, and full-cost paid induction and introductory programme to set you up for success
- QCF qualifications and structured career development so you progress and grow - not stuck in the same role year after year
- Circle wellbeing hub (counselling, fitness advice, healthy eating tips), Blue Light Card discounts across high street, days out and holidays, and NEST pension scheme with matched contributions up to 3%
- £500 referral bonus when you bring someone talented to the team and they complete probation - and if you're a veteran or current service personnel, a guaranteed interview if you meet the criteria
Is this you?
- You're male and over 18 (we need a male worker for genuine occupational reasons related to the people we support)
- You have experience in care, OR you're hungry to learn and we'll train you properly from scratch - either way, you're ready to commit
- You're patient, observant and genuinely interested in how mental health, autism and learning disability work - and you want to help people understand themselves better
- You're reliable and willing to build trust: these people need someone consistent, someone they can count on
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
