Picture this: 5pm to 10pm, five days a week, building real relationships with residents who look forward to seeing you. You're not rushing between twelve different tasks. You're there during the wind-down hours, helping people settle into their evening, listening to their stories, making sure they feel cared for and valued. The home sits in the historical village of Mere, just beneath the South Downs, and it's part of a family-run business that runs three luxury residential care homes plus a home care agency. That means genuine stability, proper systems, and crucially, a culture where career progression isn't a poster on the wall, it's real. Staff here get full training either in-house or at the organisation's dedicated training centre. You'll develop as a professional carer, not just shuffle through shifts
You'll work with a Senior Care Assistant who directs the care tasks, but the real work is the softer stuff: lending genuine support, taking interest in residents' lives, helping them live as full and enjoyable a life as their health permits. When time allows, you'll help with domestic duties and the running of the home. It's care work that actually feels like care work
What you will be doing
- Provide personal care to residents during your 5pm to 10pm twilight shift
- Carry out assigned care tasks under the direction of the Senior Care Assistant
- Support residents and take a genuine interest in their lives, helping them enjoy their evenings
- Help with the running of the home and domestic duties when time allows
- Promote a harmonious, helpful and friendly atmosphere across the service
