Most residential care jobs offer you a wage and a rota. This one offers you the chance to genuinely change young people's lives, work alongside a manager who's proven himself in this sector, and grow into a career with real progression. If you've got the character and commitment to do this work properly, we need to talk to you
Picture this: you're working in a five-bedroomed home where two young people with emotional, social and behavioural needs are building real trust with you. They're discovering their passions, whether that's sports, cooking or music, and you're the person helping them find confidence they didn't know they had. That's not just a job. That's impact that sticks with them for life
You'll be part of a close-knit team led by a Registered Manager who's genuinely excited about the work and has already built a strong reputation in children's care. The home is in a beautiful part of Stockton Heath, designed to actually feel like home, not an institution. Boundaries and routines are there to help young people thrive, not to control them
We're serious about your development too. If you don't already hold NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People's Workforce, we'll fund and support you to get it. Ongoing training, employee support programmes, and genuine employment progression as the service grows, plus a profit sharing scheme that rewards your loyalty
What you will be doing
- Provide emotional support and build meaningful relationships with the young people in your care, helping them feel genuinely safe and valued
- Establish and maintain clear boundaries and routines that create a nurturing, stable home environment
- Actively encourage each young person to pursue their interests and passions, whether sports, cooking, music or anything else that builds their confidence
- Work shift patterns including sleep-ins, being present when the young people need you most
- Collaborate closely with your team and Registered Manager to uphold the home Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
Why you will love working here
- Salary of £26,000 to £28,000 per annum, rising to £32,000 to £34,000 if you regularly take sleep-ins at £70 per sleep
- Ongoing training and professional development funded by the service, with a clear pathway to NVQ Level 3 or 4 if you need it
- Employee support programmes and genuine progression opportunities as the service grows
- Profit sharing scheme so your loyalty and hard work directly benefit you
- Work in a beautiful, properly resourced five-bedroom home where young people actually want to be, led by an experienced manager who believes in his team
Is this you?
- Is this you: you have at least two years' experience working in a care setting and understand what good looks like
- You hold NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People's Workforce, or you're genuinely committed to working towards this qualification (we'll support you)
- You have a full UK driving licence and can work flexible shift patterns including waking nights and sleep-ins
- You've got strong character and resolve, you can stay calm under pressure, and you actually enjoy working as part of a tight-knit team
- You understand the home Regulations and Ofsted procedures, or you're ready to learn them
