Most support work feels like you're fitting people into a box. This role is the opposite: you'll be the trusted person who helps someone access the life they actually want to live. Whether it's getting to a community group, a medical appointment, or just having the confidence to go shopping, you'll be the one making independence real
Imagine a role where every shift has genuine purpose. You're not managing tasks on a spreadsheet; you're working one-to-one with someone who needs consistent, skilled support. Whether they're navigating physical disability, learning disability, autism, or complex multiple needs, you become their bridge to the world outside. A trip to physio. A community group they've been wanting to try. Lunch with a friend. You're there, steady and capable, making it all possible
The people you support will have a personal budget or be self-funding their care, which means real resources go into getting their support right. There's no waiting list pressure, no corners cut. You'll get proper training every single year, full DBS clearance, and you'll work with someone long enough to actually know them, understand what matters to them, and build real trust. That's rare in this sector
You'll help people prepare for appointments, travel with them, support them through day services and activities, help with food prep, and open doors to social experiences they value. This isn't about control or compliance; it's about enabling. It's skilled, person-centred work that builds genuine relationships
