Most care jobs feel like you're managing crisis after crisis, with young people who've given up on themselves and nowhere to build something real. This is different. We're looking for Support Workers who can help 16+ year olds move from chaos into actual independence, where your work genuinely changes the trajectory of someone's life
Imagine walking into a shift knowing that what you do today is going to help a young person cook their first meal from scratch, or nail an interview for a job they actually want, or ring the GP because they've learned to look after themselves. That's the daily reality here. These residents aren't warehoused; they're in transition, and you're the person who makes that transition real
Many of the young people here have known trauma, instability, and adults who let them down. Your job is to be different: consistent, calm, and genuinely invested in watching them stabilise and grow. You'll run keywork sessions on life skills - budgeting, tenancy readiness, personal hygiene, the unglamorous stuff that actually changes lives. You'll support them to access Education, Employment and Training opportunities. You'll help them navigate GP services, local transport, community resources. Small things that build confidence in a young person who's forgotten how
This home is built on structure and safety, with Ofsted-regulated safeguarding woven into everything. You'll keep detailed daily logs and incident reports, but that's not bureaucracy for its own sake; it's how we protect the residents and each other. The team here knows what good looks like, and they'll expect you to care about it too
What you will be doing
- Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to residents aged 16+, many of whom are recovering from trauma or disruption
- Deliver weekly keywork sessions teaching essential life skills: budgeting, cooking, personal hygiene, tenancy readiness, and independence planning
- Support residents in accessing Education, Employment and Training (EET) opportunities and attending professional appointments
- Maintain accurate daily logs and incident reports in line with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding protocols
- Help young people navigate local transport, GP services, and community resources to build their confidence and independence
Why you will love working here
- Competitive salary and benefits package
- Structured training and development that equips you for real progression in the care sector
- A team that genuinely knows what good looks like, where your expertise and compassion are valued every shift
- The chance to work with young people at a critical moment, when your consistency and belief in them can literally redirect their lives
Is this you?
- You've got genuine empathy for young people, especially those who've had a rough time, and you don't write them off
- You're organised and detail-oriented: safeguarding and good record-keeping matter to you, not as a box to tick but as part of doing right by the residents
- You can be calm and consistent under pressure, and you know how to set boundaries without being dismissive
- You're comfortable delivering practical life skills coaching and can break down things like budgeting or tenancy readiness into actual, doable steps
- You want to work somewhere with real structure and clarity, where your work has measurable impact on young people's futures
