Most residential care jobs leave you drained, undervalued and stuck. This one doesn't. We're hiring compassionate, resilient care workers to support young people aged 8 - 17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a therapeutic home where your relationships with the young people actually matter, your development is funded, and your shift pattern gives you real life back
Imagine clocking off after a 2-on shift knowing you've genuinely changed a young person's day. That's what happens here. You'll be the stable adult in the room for kids who need it most - building trust, coaching them through routines, celebrating their small wins, and creating the kind of safe, nurturing home environment where they can start to believe in themselves again. This isn't paperwork-heavy; it's about the real work of being present
The team here actually invests in you. Paid training, clear progression routes, and a genuine commitment to your development. If you've got your NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People, you're already on the right track. The home's values - Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Development, and Equality - aren't wall posters; they shape how the team operates every single day
And the rota? 2 on, 4 off. Sleep-ins at £60 plus your hourly rate (£13 - £14/hr). That's real breathing space to recharge, pursue other interests, or simply be human. Add the length-of-service holiday increases (an extra paid day per year, up to 3 years), healthcare perks, employee assistance, and refer-a-friend bonuses, and you've got a package that actually recognises your labour
What you will be doing
- Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people, being the steady, dependable adult they can turn to
- Build and maintain consistent, positive relationships that help young people feel safe, valued and heard
- Support education, routines and daily living skills - from homework help to cooking together to managing personal care
- Work closely with other professionals and external agencies to coordinate the best support for each young person
- Contribute to a structured, therapeutic home environment where boundaries are clear and growth is possible
Why you will love working here
- Pay: £13 - £14/hr plus £60 for each sleep-in shift, so your earnings grow with your rota
- Paid training and funded development opportunities to build your skills and confidence
- Clear career progression pathways - this is a launchpad, not a dead end
- Length-of-service rewards: an extra paid holiday day per year up to 3 years, long service awards, employee of the month/year recognition, plus healthcare and gym membership perks
- A £100 refer-a-friend bonus when you bring good people into the team, plus an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing
Is this you?
- Is this you: at least 6 - 12 months of hands-on experience working in a children's residential setting
- You've got your NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People (gained within 2 years of residential work)
- You hold a full UK driving licence
- You're compassionate and resilient - able to stay calm when things are tough, and genuinely invested in a young person's wellbeing
- You can commit to the 2 on, 4 off shift pattern and occasional sleep-ins
