Most care jobs feel transactional: you show up, you clock out, and nothing really shifts for the young people or for you. This role is different. You'll join a home where managers lead by example on the actual shifts, relationships are genuinely warm and humorous, and the young people you support are working towards real, meaningful change

Picture yourself in a relaxed, homely environment where three young people aged 8-17 are dealing with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Your job isn't to manage chaos from a distance - it's to be present, consistent, and to help them experience happier times and a brighter future. You're not just a support worker; you're part of their therapeutic journey

The team here has very high levels of commitment to outcomes. Managers don't hide in offices - they're on shift with you, role modelling good practice and showing through their own actions what excellent care looks like. That means you'll learn constantly, from people who genuinely know the work

You'll get comprehensive training to achieve a Childcare Diploma, regular supervision, and ongoing CPD. Yearly pay increments reward your development. Over time, promotion opportunities open up. This is a place where your growth matters as much as the young people's does

What you will be doing

  • Provide emotional and social support to help young people develop meaningful relationships with peers and adults, and encourage their involvement in local communities
  • Plan, shop and prepare nutritious, varied meals with the young people involved, and carry out domestic duties that help the home run smoothly
  • Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of vulnerable young people, keeping them safe and secure every single day
  • Encourage and support each young person's individual interests and strengths, helping them work towards their personal goals

Why you will love working here

  • Up to £32,283.20 per annum, including approximately £5,000 per year for sleep-in shifts, plus yearly pay increments as you develop
  • Comprehensive training programme leading to a Childcare Diploma, regular supervisions, and access to ongoing CPD and wellbeing programmes
  • Corporate gym membership, medical insurance after two years' employment, company pension, and access to discounts with over 740 retailers through our Employee Discount Scheme
  • A home with a genuinely relaxed, fun and homely feel, where staff commitment and positive relationships are real, not words on a policy document

Is this you?

  • You have compassion, patience and genuine empathy for young people who are struggling, and you're willing to show up authentically
  • You're a strong team player who can work effectively alongside experienced managers and other support workers who share high expectations of the care you provide
  • You're eager to learn - experience supporting vulnerable young people is valued, but willingness to develop matters more than a long track record
  • You're organised and practical: comfortable with cooking, household routines, and the day-to-day texture of running a home with young people
