Most care jobs feel like you're treading water: long shifts, burnout, nowhere to go. This is different. We're building a brand-new 2-bed home in Knowsley for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, and we need people who actually want to make a career here - not just fill a rota. If you're ready to be part of something new where your growth matters as much as theirs does, keep reading

You'll be working with a small, motivated team in a fresh home environment where consistency and high standards aren't just words on a policy sheet - they're how you work every day. Whether it's supporting a young person through their morning routine, taking them out for activities like horse riding or trampolining, or being there during the difficult moments, you'll see directly how your presence makes a difference. These are young people who've had a rough time; they need adults who stay calm, who listen, and who believe in them

The home is built on family principles. Free meals on shift aren't just a perk - they're a chance to eat together, to build genuine relationships, to show young people what a safe, normal routine looks like. You'll be involved in key work meetings, therapy sessions, school transitions, shopping trips, cinema visits. You're not just supervising; you're actively helping them reach their potential

This provider is serious about developing their staff. They're not hiring bodies to cover shifts; they're building a team. You'll get training and support to become a qualified Residential Support Worker, career progression is real, and attendance bonuses plus employee-of-the-month schemes show they value commitment. If you can bring resilience, good communication, organisation and genuine care, they'll invest in you

What you will be doing

  • Provide day-to-day support, guidance and structure to children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, autism and ADHD, acting as a positive role model
  • Support young people with morning and evening routines, helping them manage daily tasks with patience and consistency
  • Accompany and transport young people to education settings, therapy sessions, key work meetings, activities and social outings (cinema, swimming, horse riding, Duke of Edinburgh, etc.)
  • Record observations, maintain care plans and communicate important information to the team through meetings and documentation
  • Work as part of a close-knit team to deliver high-standard care that meets OFSTED regulations and the home's policies

Why you will love working here

  • Flexible bank/zero-hours contract: you choose the shifts (12, 24 or 32 hours) that work for your life, with paid sleep-ins available at £55 per night
  • Real career progression: this provider invests in training you to become a qualified Residential Support Worker and developing you within the company
  • Attendance bonuses and employee-of-the-month schemes that reward your commitment
  • Free meals during shifts - cooked and eaten together as a team, modelling the family environment you're building with the young people
  • A brand-new home with a motivated team where your views, ideas and wellbeing actually matter

Is this you?

  • You have a current UK driving licence and are comfortable providing safe transport for young people
  • You're naturally resilient: you can stay calm and respond thoughtfully when young people with complex needs are struggling
  • You're an organised communicator who can update care plans, relay important information to colleagues and work effectively as part of a team
  • You're genuinely caring and attentive - you notice what each young person needs and you want to help them thrive
  • One year's experience in residential childcare is desirable, but your commitment to learning and your character matter more than a perfect CV
