Most care work locks you into rigid shifts that clash with everything else in your life. But what if you could choose when you work, help disabled young people access brilliant activities, and actually get paid properly for it? We're looking for flexible, energetic people who want to make real memories with young people during short breaks - and who won't sacrifice their own plans to do it
Picture this: you're at a theme park with a young person who's never been before, watching their face light up as they go on their first ride. Or you're at the zoo, the leisure centre, an after-school club, a holiday group - places where disabled children get the same chances as anyone else to try new things, make friends and have proper fun. That's what short breaks do. They change lives for the young people. And they give their parents and carers a genuine breather too
You choose your hours around your studies, your other job, your life. You tell us when you're available and we build the rota from there. No juggling, no guilt, no burnout. Just real work that fits
You won't be thrown in alone. You get an induction day when you start, regular one-to-one supervision, group supervisions where you meet other workers and share what's worked well, and access to proper training so you grow in confidence and skill. The team here invests in you because they know good support workers are gold
What you will be doing
- Support young people with disabilities to take part in mainstream and specialist activities - after-school clubs, sports groups, leisure activities, holiday programmes and overnight stays
- Help children develop new friendships, learn new skills and have fun while achieving positive outcomes
- Create safe, inclusive experiences where young people feel valued and confident
- Work flexibly across the sessions and activities our service runs, fitting around your own schedule
Why you will love working here
- £15.03 per hour plus holiday pay on top
- You control your own rota - work the hours that suit you, not the other way round
- Induction, regular one-to-one and group supervision, and access to a range of training opportunities
- Staff awards, social events and access to a confidential counselling service
Is this you?
- You genuinely enjoy spending time with young people and like the energy of new experiences
- You're comfortable supporting children and young people with a range of disabilities
- You're reliable, flexible and able to turn up ready to make a difference
- You're willing to learn and engage with supervision and training to develop your skills
