Most residential care jobs feel the same: you're drowning in paperwork, stretched thin across a team that doesn't invest in you, and the pay barely moves. This one is different. This is a permanent, full-time role with a brand-new organisation built by a Social Worker and Manager with 30 years of combined experience, who've designed it around actually supporting you to do brilliant work with young people aged 16-24 who need semi-independent living support
You'll spend your days building real relationships with young people learning to live independently, not filling in endless forms. The team works in a 95% paperless environment using modern tech, which means more time doing the work you came into this sector to do: mentoring, supporting, and genuinely changing lives. You'll run meaningful activities both in and outside the home, hold key work sessions, and watch young people gain confidence in their abilities and ambitions
This provider recruits from within and has a first-class leadership and development programme built into the culture. If you're ambitious and dedicated, there's a genuine pathway here to grow into management and leadership. Your professional development isn't an afterthought; it's how this organisation builds excellence
The team includes an experienced Registered Manager and an Operations Director who knows the sector inside out. You won't be learning on your own. You'll be part of a caring team that's intentional about safeguarding young people, supporting those dealing with self-harm, anti-social behaviour or offending, and working with Education, Employment and Training providers to get them on their feet
What you will be doing
- Build trusting, warm relationships with young people and support them to live independently, encouraging confidence and realistic goal-setting
- Run key work sessions, plan and deliver meaningful activities and workshops both in and outside the home, and support young people's engagement in education, employment or training
- Safeguard and promote welfare, complete risk assessments and incident reports, resolve conflict and identify potential risks
- Maintain accurate records (mostly digital), contribute to assessments, attend staff meetings, and communicate effectively with colleagues and other professionals
- Carry out regular health and safety checks including room searches and fire checks, and production and recording of maintenance checks
- Support young people with challenging behaviour, and when necessary attend courts, hospitals or police stations
Why you will love working here
- Competitive salary of £19,760 to £24,960 plus an attractive performance-related bonus
- A first-class leadership and development programme with genuine opportunities to progress into management
- Modern social care technology training and a 95% paperless working environment so you spend time with young people, not admin
- Full-time, permanent contract with holiday pay and a free DBS check referral scheme
- A team built by experienced leaders who are genuinely passionate about the best outcomes for young people and for staff
