Most care jobs feel like you're just getting through shifts. This one isn't like that. We're looking for someone who actually wants to help young people build real lives, make genuine choices, and discover what they're capable of - and we've created a role where that's genuinely possible

Imagine working somewhere that treats care as a craft, not a tick-box exercise. You'll be part of a home supporting over 140 children and adults each year, but your focus will be on the individuals in front of you: helping them navigate daily life, build confidence, develop skills, and feel genuinely heard. The impact of consistent, thoughtful support compounds. You'll see young people who arrived withdrawn start to engage. You'll watch them make choices they never thought they could make. That matters

This is a team that gets it. Your colleagues understand that supporting vulnerable young people requires patience, creativity, and genuine care - not just procedural compliance. You'll work alongside people who show up because they believe in the work, and that creates a completely different atmosphere on shift. Training and development are built in, not bolted on, because this provider knows that your growth directly translates to better outcomes for the young people in your care

The salary is £26,000 - honest money for real work. You'll be part of a service with genuine stability and backing, delivering the hours and the consistency that young people in residential care desperately need. This is the kind of role where you'll actually feel the weight of what you're doing, in the best way

What you will be doing

  • Provide day-to-day support to young people in the home, helping them with personal care, meals, activities and building daily routines that work for them
  • Work alongside each young person to understand their individual needs, goals and preferences, and actively support them to make choices about their own lives
  • Support the development of practical life skills - everything from cooking and budgeting to self-care and managing emotions - tailored to where each person is
  • Build trusting relationships with the young people you support, offering consistent, reliable presence during both the everyday moments and the challenging ones
  • Work as part of a wider team to implement care plans, share observations and contribute to the ongoing assessment of how each young person is doing

Why you will love working here

  • £26,000 salary for a genuine, impactful role supporting young people who really need it
  • Membership of a team and provider that invests in your training and professional development because they understand it matters
  • The chance to do work that actually changes lives - you'll see the difference you make
  • Stability and backing from an established service with real experience in residential care

Is this you?

  • You have a genuine desire to support young people and help them move forward, even when progress is slow or uncertain
  • You're patient, observant and can stay calm under pressure - you don't panic when things get messy, either literally or emotionally
  • You communicate well with young people and colleagues alike, and you're happy to ask for help or guidance when you need it
  • You're reliable and committed to showing up consistently - young people in care need people they can count on
  • You're reflective about your practice and open to learning - you understand that this kind of work requires you to keep developing
