Most care jobs leave you exhausted, doing paperwork instead of actually connecting with people. This one is different: you'll spend your entire shift with one person, getting to know them properly, supporting them to live the life they actually want. If you're the kind of person who lights up when you help someone thrive, read on

Picture this: you're supporting a gentleman who loves travel, nature and trying new things. One day you're on a bus heading to a place he's never been, the next you're on a moderate walk through New Mills spotting wildlife, the next you're at the gym for a swim he's been looking forward to all week. You're not just a carer ticking boxes; you're the person who knows his moods, his preferences, what calms him down, and how he communicates. You're building a real relationship that matters

He has learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs - and yes, that means some days are trickier than others. But that's exactly where you come in. You'll be trained in Positive Behavioural Support, Manual Handling and medication, so you'll have the skills to handle any situation calmly and confidently. The support plan is there to guide you. Your job is to follow it, stay firm and kind, and help him feel safe and understood

The best bit? You're not juggling six people at once. It's you and him. One location, one amazing team, and a shift pattern (9am to 9pm or 9pm to 9am) that actually works around your life, not against it. No commute stress, no driving required, just you showing up and making a tangible difference every single day

This is a bank role with a provider that genuinely invests in their people. They're a multi award-winning charity that puts profits straight back into staff training, wellbeing and support. They've been doing this since 1988, so they know what they're doing, and they've got your back

  • Plan and encourage activities he loves: days out by bus or train, nature walks when the weather is good, swimming at the gym, exploring new places and revisiting familiar ones
  • Follow his support plan, use his communication methods and calendar to keep him reassured about what's coming next, manage any challenging behaviour calmly and firmly, and help maintain the boundaries and relationships that matter to him
  • Administer medication, support manual handling tasks, and stay alert and proactive - spotting new activities he might enjoy and building on his activity file so every day feels fresh
  • Work solo shifts (one staff member at a time) across days (9am to 9pm) or nights (9pm to 9am), with full training and ongoing support from the Service Leader and Support Worker Team
