Most care jobs ask you to do everything with nothing. This one is different: you'll work in a newly established mental health residential home where your role is genuinely about building trust, nurturing recovery, and watching young people develop independence. If you've got the skills and heart to do this work properly, and you want a team and a provider that actually invests in you, this is the role you've been waiting for
Picture this: you're in a home where the young people you support know you have their back. You're not just managing crisis or ticking boxes. You're cooking together, problem-solving together, rebuilding trust that's been broken elsewhere. Every shift, you're actively contributing to a therapeutic environment where recovery and independence aren't corporate buzzwords - they're what actually happens
The home is newly established, which means you're not inheriting years of entrenched problems. You're building something that works from the ground up. You'll be part of a supportive team that works in genuine partnership with parents, carers, and professionals. The young people you support have complex mental health needs - and that means your work has real weight
This provider gets it: you can't do this job burnt out on poverty wages with no training. You get a competitive salary with regular pay reviews, 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays (increasing as you stay), a proper pension scheme with employer contributions, and genuine access to ongoing training and development. Free employee assistance, family-friendly leave, cycle-to-work, cashback offers - the benefits stack because they know retention and wellbeing matter
What you will be doing
- Build trust and develop nurturing relationships with the young people, actively supporting their wellbeing and independence every single day
- Work hands-on with cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the home - creating the practical, safe spaces where young people can actually recover
- Partner with parents, carers, and professionals to deliver holistic, joined-up care that makes sense in each young person's life
- Document accurately and keep records up to date, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks and safeguarding is always secure
- Champion a safe, therapeutic environment that actively promotes recovery and development - it's not just your responsibility, it's your impact
Why you will love working here
- Competitive salary with regular pay reviews, so your value gets recognised
- 26 days' holiday plus all bank holidays, increasing as you stay - because burnout helps nobody
- A proper pension scheme with employer contributions, so your future is actually secure
- Free access to employee assistance programmes, free ongoing training, and a team that invests in your development
- Family-friendly leave (maternity, paternity, adoption), cycle-to-work scheme, discount schemes, and cashback offers that add real money back
Is this you?
- Is this you: you've got hands-on experience working with children and young people in a residential setting, and you know what good looks like
- You hold the Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Residential Care, or you're genuinely willing to get qualified within the required timeframe - we'll support you
- You've got a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle, because flexibility in this role matters
- You're comfortable working shifts, weekends and bank holidays - you understand this is round-the-clock work, and you're ready for it
- You've got real communication and interpersonal skills: you can build relationships, talk to families, work as part of a team, and do it all with warmth under pressure
