Most residential care jobs feel like you're just getting through the shift. This one is different: you'll be building real relationships with young people aged 8 to 18 who genuinely need what you have to offer. We're looking for someone who sees care work not as a job, but as a chance to change lives and grow into their best self

Picture yourself in a home where your day actually matters. You're cooking a meal with a teenager who's never had an adult take time to listen. You're helping them see they can do hard things. You're documenting their progress, celebrating small wins with their parents and the wider team, and knowing that the safety and warmth you create is literally what they'll carry forward. Short-term placements mean you see real transformation, fast

This is a provider that invests in their people like they invest in the young people they support. You'll have proper training, a clear pathway to your Level 3 Diploma if you don't have it yet, and a team around you that actually has your back. Hybrid working, a genuine pension scheme, and leave that increases as you stay show they value loyalty. The cycle-to-work scheme and employee assistance programme are the kind of extras that say we care about your whole life, not just your shifts

You'll work sleep-ins, shifts, weekends and bank holidays - the rota that keeps a home running. But you won't be doing it alone, and you won't be doing it for minimum wage. A competitive salary with regular pay reviews, 26 days holiday to start (rising with service), family-friendly leave including maternity and adoption support, and access to high street and leisure discounts mean you're genuinely looked after. This is a place built on the belief that happy, secure staff create homes where young people can heal

What you will be doing

  • Build trusting, nurturing relationships with each young person that help them develop independence and emotional strength
  • Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals across the wider team to deliver holistic, joined-up care
  • Keep the home running day to day: cooking, cleaning, maintaining a warm and welcoming space where young people feel safe
  • Document and maintain records accurately in line with safeguarding and regulatory standards - the admin that protects everyone
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding policies, staying alert and acting as a protective presence at all times

Why you will love working here

  • Competitive salary with regular pay reviews so your hard work is recognised and rewarded
  • 26 days holiday per year to start, rising as you stay - plus family-friendly leave including maternity, paternity and adoption support
  • A proper pension scheme and health cash plan, because your future matters
  • Cycle-to-work scheme, high street and leisure discounts, and an employee assistance programme that covers you when life gets tough
  • Real training and development opportunities, including your pathway to Level 3 Diploma qualification

Is this you?

  • Are you holding a Level 3 Diploma in the field, or ready to achieve it within the required timeframe? (We'll support you.)
  • Do you have a genuine understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and take it seriously?
  • Are you motivated by making a real, measurable difference in young people's lives - even on the hard days?
  • Are you flexible and willing to work sleep-ins, varying shifts, weekends and bank holidays as the rota needs?
  • Have you worked with children and young people before? Great - but the right attitude and genuine willingness to learn matter more than a perfect CV
