Most care work feels like you're just getting through the shift. But what if every day actually meant something, and you worked somewhere that invested in you as much as you invest in the people you support? We're looking for someone who wants to do proper care, in a home where the team genuinely has your back

You'll be working with up to 11 adults with learning disabilities and autism in a residential setting where real relationships happen. These aren't faceless service users; they're people with dreams, choices, and things they want to try. Your job is to help them find joy and independence, whether that's supporting them through daily routines, joining in activities they love, or simply being the person they can rely on. The difference you make is tangible and immediate

This isn't a home that just ticks boxes. The team here is strong, purposeful, and genuinely passionate about what they do. You'll work shifts across 7am-2pm, 2pm-9pm, and waking nights (9pm-7am) on a rota basis, so you'll get to know the people you support properly and build real continuity in their lives. Weekend working is part of the rhythm, but you're never just filling time

They'll invest in your growth from day one. Whether you're brand new to care (and can complete your Care Certificate with them) or already experienced, there's a clear pathway: internal leadership sessions and recognised qualifications all the way up to level 5 NVQ in Health & Social Care. A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme means support flows both ways, and a contributory pension scheme shows they're thinking about your future too

What you will be doing

  • Provide active, compassionate support to the residents across all daily living activities, from personal care to mealtimes to helping them get out and about
  • Participate in and facilitate the chosen activities and hobbies of the people you support, bringing genuine enthusiasm and energy to their interests
  • Work flexibly across day shifts, evening shifts, and waking night shifts on a rota basis, maintaining continuity and building strong relationships with residents
  • Contribute to a positive, person-centred culture where residents are supported to have a voice, make choices, and work towards their own goals

Why you will love working here

  • £13.50 per hour for 35 hours per week, with a contributory pension scheme so your future is building from day one
  • Paid learning and development that goes beyond basic induction: Care Certificate if you're new, then NVQ level 2 through to level 5 in Health & Social Care, plus internal leadership competency sessions
  • A 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (confidential, supportive, always there), attractive employee benefits including savings on shopping and leisure, and a generous referral scheme
  • A genuine team culture where you're not just a shift filler but part of something purposeful: people who care about empowering the residents and supporting each other properly

Is this you?

  • Are you compassionate, kind, and genuinely interested in helping others live better, more independent lives?
  • You're adventurous and willing to get stuck in with activities, rather than just supervising from the sidelines
  • You can show up with enthusiasm and a positive outlook, even on the tough days, and you're flexible enough to adapt to different residents' needs
  • You're reliable and can commit to working across all shift patterns (days, evenings, and waking nights) on a rota, including weekends, and you live within 15 miles of Tibshelf
  • New to care, or already experienced? Either way, you're ready to learn and grow with recognised qualifications
