Most care jobs feel like you're just managing the shift. This one is about changing lives. We're looking for someone with genuine warmth and a real desire to make a difference to young people aged up to 18, in a home where your commitment to their growth is matched by proper support, training and career progression for you
Picture yourself as the steady, positive influence in a young person's life when they've needed it most. You'll help create an environment where they feel safe, valued and genuinely heard, while you represent the home's values with professional integrity. That's not just a job; that's mentorship that sticks with people
You won't be thrown in the deep end. We provide funded Level 4 Apprenticeship training, therapeutic training for all staff, and a real culture of career progression. We've been reaching out and changing lives since 2002, and we invest in our team because we know that supported, skilled staff create the best outcomes for young people
Working on a rolling rota means variety, and yes, you'll do sleep-in shifts, but you'll do them knowing the organisation values you enough to offer a 3% employer pension, 224 hours annual leave, bank holidays at double pay, and genuine recognition through monthly awards. Food is provided on shift too, because the small things matter
What you will be doing
- Create and maintain a positive, safe environment for each young person, with close attention to their safety, health and education
- Engage with young people day to day as a positive mentor and role model, helping guide them through challenges and celebrate their progress
- Deliver residential childcare in line with Ofsted regulations and Quality Care Standards, maintaining professional practice at all times
- Work rolling shifts across 08.00am to 23.00pm, including sleep-in shifts on a rota basis (typically 8 per month)
- Work accountably with the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, and uphold the home's ethos and values in everything you do
Why you will love working here
- Salary of £34,320 to £36,088 per year (including £65 per sleep-in shift), depending on your qualifications
- Funded Level 4 Apprenticeship and therapeutic training for all staff, so you genuinely develop your skills and career
- 224 hours of annual leave, bank holidays at double pay, 3% employer pension contribution, and incentivised overtime at plus £3.50 per hour
- A supportive team culture with monthly recognition awards, employee wellbeing services, and genuine career progression opportunities
- Free DBS check, referral programme (earn up to £500 for recommending someone), store discount, and food provided on shift
Is this you?
- Do you have a genuine desire to bring about positive change in young people's lives? That matters more than a long list of prior experience
- Is this you: someone with at least 1 year of experience in a care or related setting (preferred, not essential)?
- Do you hold a valid UK or EU manual driving licence? You'll need this for the role
- Are you settled in the UK and able to pass enhanced DBS checks and safer recruitment procedures?
- Can you commit to a rolling rota, including sleep-in shifts, and bring reliability and professionalism to every shift?
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
