Most care jobs wear you down with low pay, unpredictable rotas and the feeling that nobody's really invested in you. This one is different. We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to change young people's lives, and we're prepared to back you with real training, real career progression and a team that actually supports its staff

You'll be working in a residential home with young people aged up to 18, many with mild to moderate learning disabilities including autism and ADHD. This isn't a job where you clock in and out; it's where you become a trusted adult in their lives, helping them feel safe, supported and able to learn. Every day you'll see small wins that matter: a young person who finally opens up, someone who feels heard, kids who know they belong

The home operates on a rolling rota basis with shifts from 08.00am to 23.00pm, and you'll do sleep-in shifts too. That consistency means the young people get to know you, trust you, and you get to see real progress. You won't be left to figure it out alone either: therapeutic training is provided for all staff, and you'll have the backing of a Registered Manager and Deputy Manager who actually know your name and care about your development

This is a permanent, full-time role with genuine progression built in. You'll earn between £34,320 and £36,088 a year depending on your qualifications, plus £65 per sleep-in shift. Overtime pays an extra £3.50 per hour if you want it. The home invests in you: Level 4 Apprenticeship funding, a 3% employer pension contribution, 224 hours of annual leave, and bank holidays at double pay. You also get a free DBS check, access to an employee wellbeing service, and monthly recognition awards

What you will be doing

  • Create and maintain a positive, safe environment for each young person, supporting their health, wellbeing and education
  • Engage daily with young people using person-centred care, building trust and being a consistent positive influence in their lives
  • Work flexibly across a rolling rota pattern including waking shifts (08.00am-23.00pm) and sleep-in shifts, adapting to the home's weekly schedule
  • Uphold the home's ethos and values through professional practice, maintaining Ofsted Regulations and Quality Care Standards for children's homes
  • Work as part of a team under the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, following company policies and contributing to effective residential childcare delivery
