Every day you'll walk into a home where your job is to help people live as independently as possible. That means everything from personal care and mobility support, through to helping someone manage their finances, plan their birthday, or get ready for a day out. You'll be part of someone's actual life, not just ticking boxes
The people you support have complex needs - personal hygiene, continence management, medication support, dietary care, household tasks - and your role is to do it all with their dignity and privacy at the front of your mind. You'll work alongside a Senior Worker or Team Leader who's there to guide you, and you'll sit in on care plan reviews so you can see the impact of what you do and shape how the support evolves
You'll be part of a team that does this properly. There are staff meetings, quality management reviews, and regular training programmes built into your rota. The home runs to proper policies and procedures, and you'll be accountable to a Care Services Manager who actually wants to hear if something needs attention or urgent action. No flying blind. No corners cut
What you will be doing
- Provide personalised personal care: washing, bathing, shaving, grooming, continence management, mobility support, dressing and undressing, hair and nail care, and toileting - always respecting each person's dignity and independence
- Support rehabilitation and healthcare: help people use aids to daily living, assist with prescribed medication, and support rehabilitation programmes alongside healthcare professionals
- Manage dietary and domestic care: prepare meals and snacks tailored to likes and dislikes, assist with feeding, and handle all household tasks from cleaning and laundry through to bed-making and refuse collection
- Contribute to personal planning and financial support: help with bill-paying, collecting pensions, and organising personal milestones like birthdays and anniversaries
- Maintain detailed records: keep accurate, concise and timely notes on care delivered, complete diary sheets and timesheets, and participate in care plan reviews
- Attend training and team meetings: take part in induction, regular in-service training, staff meetings, and quality management reviews as directed
