Most care jobs feel the same: long shifts, tight budgets, and little time to actually connect with the people you support. This one is different. We're looking for someone who wants to be part of a genuinely compassionate team at a 6-bed residential service where person-centred care isn't just the mission - it's how we work every single day
Picture this: it's Tuesday morning and you're heading out on a college visit with one of the young people you support. On Wednesday, you're helping plan a baking session. Next week, you might be at the swimming pool, or helping someone prepare for a cycling trip. This isn't about ticking boxes. It's about real relationships, real progress, and real fun. You'll see young people with physical and learning disabilities actually come alive as they gain confidence, build independence, and discover what they're capable of
The team here genuinely cares. They foster an environment built on openness, dignity, and respect - and that starts the moment you walk in. You'll work with people who share your values, who back each other up, and who celebrate when a young person reaches a goal they thought was impossible. Training and development are built in from day one. No experience needed - we'll equip you with everything you need to thrive, including fully funded qualifications and in-house mental health first aiders
The shifts work around real life too: rotating patterns across weeks (Tuesday and Thursday 7-7, Friday 8-4 in week one; Wednesday 8-4, Saturday and Sunday 7-7 in week two) with 32.5 hours per week. You won't burn out. You'll grow. Higher rates for experience, enhanced weekend rates, overtime options, a proper pension, life assurance, critical illness cover, and an employee assistance programme mean we invest in you as much as you invest in the young people
What you will be doing
- Provide practical and emotional support to young people with physical and learning disabilities in their day-to-day lives, tailored to each person's unique needs
- Accompany residents on a wide range of activities - from college visits and swimming to horse riding, cycling, theme parks, holidays, and concerts - building confidence and independence
- Assist with dietary plans, personal care duties, and community integration, always prioritising dignity and choice
- Teach vital life skills that help young people become more independent and in control of their own futures
- Work as part of a skilled team, communicating effectively and upholding the home's values of respect and person-centred care
Why you will love working here
- £13.30-£13.55 per hour for 32.5 hours per week, with higher rates for experience and enhanced weekend rates to recognise your value
- Fully funded qualifications so you can build genuine expertise and career progression without the cost falling on you
- A benefits package that treats you like an adult: auto-enrolled pension, life assurance, critical illness cover, an employee assistance programme, paid DBS, and a Blue Light Card
- A team that invests in your wellbeing with in-house mental health first aiders, casual dress, refreshments on site, and genuine career development opportunities
- The chance to be part of something that actually matters - where you'll see young people thrive and know you helped make it happen
Is this you?
- You genuinely care about making a real difference in young people's lives and aren't afraid to show it
- You're reliable, compassionate, and comfortable working in a dynamic, varied role where no two days are quite the same
- You're happy to embrace training and development - previous experience or formal qualifications are absolutely not required
- You can work a rotating shift pattern (7am-7pm and 8am-4pm shifts across different days each week) and are flexible when the young people need you most
- You share the home's core values: openness, dignity, respect, and a genuine commitment to supporting others
