Most care worker shifts feel like you're just getting by, doing the bare minimum before clocking out. But night shifts in residential homes are different: quieter, deeper, more meaningful. This role gives you the chance to build real relationships with residents over sustained weeks, follow their care plans properly, and actually see the difference you're making
Picture yourself coming in at 21:30 to a home that's settling into the evening. You're part of a handover that sets the tone for a calm night ahead. The residents know you, trust you, and your job is to support them through personal care, mobility, meal times and bedtime routines with the space and attention that day shifts often can't give. Night work attracts a different kind of care worker: someone who values depth over rush, and sees the value in being present when people need gentle, consistent support
You'll be following personalised care and support plans for each resident, keeping detailed records, and working as part of a dedicated team that actually stays in touch. There's a 24-hour on-call service backing you up, so you're never isolated when things get tricky. Over three months of nights (21:30 to 07:30), you'll develop real expertise in your residents' needs and routines. Then, for six weeks of day shifts (07:00 to 14:30 or 14:30 to 21:30), you'll see how your night-time work feeds into their days
This isn't zero-hours gig work. It's a structured booking with genuine flexibility built in, competitive rates that reflect the skill night work demands, and a staff benefits and discount scheme to sweeten the deal. Plus, bring a friend: our referral bonus rewards you for recommending people you'd actually want to work alongside
