Most care jobs leave you feeling like you're just managing crises and ticking boxes. This one is different: you'll be the person who teaches a 19-year-old how to budget for the first time, watches them nail a job interview, and genuinely sees them step into adult life ready. If that idea makes you want to get out of bed in the morning, keep reading
Picture this: it's Tuesday evening and you're helping one of the young people meal-plan for the week. They're a bit anxious about money, so you sit down with their bank statement and a calculator. Two weeks later, they tell you they've managed their spending without asking for help. That's what this job is about. These are teenagers and young adults aged 16 to 21 who are on the cusp of independence, and they need someone who believes in them and knows how to guide them there without doing it for them
The service operates as supported accommodation - a real step up from residential homes. Your residents are working towards genuine independence, not just stability. Some are in education or training, others are job hunting. Your job is to be the steady presence who helps build their confidence, teaches the daily living skills that nobody taught them before (budgeting, cooking, cleaning, managing a tenancy), and connects them with the right opportunities. You'll develop support plans that matter, review them regularly, and actually see the progress
You won't be alone in this. You'll work closely with social workers, housing teams, and other professionals who all want the same thing: for these young people to succeed. The team here is values-driven - Empowerment, Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Accountability aren't posters on the wall, they're how people work together every day. There's genuine supervision, proper training, and real career development available to you. This is a place where your growth matters as much as the young people's
What you will be doing

- Provide emotional and practical support to build their confidence, self-esteem and resilience for the next chapter of their lives
- Develop and review individual support plans with each young person, tracking progress towards their personal goals
- Encourage engagement in education, training or employment - and celebrate the wins when they happen
- Work alongside social workers, housing teams and other professionals to make sure support is joined-up and consistent
- Create and maintain a safe, positive, inclusive living environment where young people feel valued and supported
Why you will love working here
- Permanent full-time contract at £26,000 per year, plus sleep-in allowance to reward the shift work
- Pension scheme and employee wellbeing support so you can look after yourself while you're looking after others
- Ongoing training, proper supervision and real opportunities for career development - this service invests in its people
