Imagine finishing a shift knowing you've helped a young person master their first budget, or watched them gain the confidence to manage a tenancy conversation. That's the everyday reality here. You'll use structured ASDAN modules covering finance, health, relationships and personal development, but it's the real human moments - the conversations over a meal, the encouragement when they're struggling - that create the actual change
The team here has been doing this properly for over two decades. They've supported thousands of young people through complex trauma, mental health challenges and difficult behaviours, and they do it with genuine warmth and clear frameworks. You won't be winging it or reinventing the wheel; you'll be joining people who know what works and who genuinely care about helping you grow in the role
Your day-to-day will mix practical support - helping young people with daily tasks and appointments - with real mentoring and skill-building. You'll keep careful records of progress, communicate regularly with the team, and maintain the safe, predictable environment these young people desperately need. It's demanding work, but it's the kind where you can actually see the results of your effort
What you will be doing
- Provide tailored, practical support to help young people develop essential life skills in finance, budgeting, tenancy management, health and wellbeing, and personal relationships
- Assist young people with education, health and welfare needs, helping them access the resources and support they require
- Help young people manage daily tasks, appointments and practical challenges, encouraging independence at every step
- Maintain accurate records and reports documenting young people's progress and development
- Contribute to a safe, supportive environment through regular communication with the team and consistent monitoring of wellbeing

Is this you?
- You have genuine experience working with young people who have complex emotional and social needs, including trauma and mental health challenges
- You hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle with business insurance (essential for this role)
- You have, or are willing to work towards, an NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification
- You're empathetic and patient, with strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- You have solid knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable children and young people, and you're comfortable with flexible hours including nights and weekends
- You're computer literate and comfortable managing records and administrative tasks
