Most care jobs feel like you're just getting through the shift. This one isn't. We're looking for someone who genuinely wants to help young people aged 11-18 with learning disabilities and mental health needs discover who they can become - and we'll give you the training, team and career path to thrive while doing it

Picture this: you're working in a warm, homely 6-bedroom home where your day involves real mentoring. You're helping a young person build life skills, manage their emotions, and see possibilities they didn't know existed. You're part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes a Consultant Psychiatrist and in-house Clinical Psychologist, so you're never flying blind. Every decision is anchored in what's best for the child

The young people here have complex needs - the kind that would have meant hospital stays in the past. That's precisely why your calm presence, your ability to stay adaptable under pressure, and your genuine compassion matter so much. You're not just providing support; you're offering stability, structure and positive role modelling at a critical stage of their lives

And here's what makes this different from the rest: the home invests in you. Fully funded Level 3 and 4 Health & Social Care training. Clear pathways into senior roles. A manager and deputy who actually know their stuff and model excellence. Colleagues who describe the environment as 'wonderful' and mean it. You'll have enhanced leave, a salary sacrifice scheme, Blue Light Card discounts, and wellness support built into the culture - not bolted on as an afterthought

What you will be doing

  • Lead and guide young people through daily life, helping them develop practical skills for independence and resilience
  • Provide structure, positive role modelling and emotional support to young people with complex mental health and learning needs
  • Work both in the home and out in the community, creating opportunities for adventure and growth
  • Communicate clearly with young people, colleagues and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistent, tailored care
  • Stay calm and responsive in challenging situations, always keeping the child's welfare and best interests at the centre

Why you will love working here

  • Competitive salary of £27,999.72 - £29,428.49 per annum, depending on experience
  • Fully funded professional training (Level 3 and 4 Health & Social Care qualifications) so you grow your skills and credentials
  • Clear career progression routes into senior roles - this is a genuine launchpad, not a dead end
  • Enhanced leave, salary sacrifice scheme, Blue Light Card retail discounts, wellness support and a genuinely supportive team culture
  • 40-hour permanent contract with a team who actually enjoy coming to work and actively support each other

Is this you?

  • Is this you: you've got demonstrable knowledge and solid experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health disorders
  • You're resilient and genuinely compassionate - not just patient, but truly committed to helping young people flourish
  • You're a team player who values responsibility and leadership, and you communicate well with both young people and colleagues
  • You stay calm and adaptable under pressure, and you're proactive about spotting what a young person needs before they have to ask
  • You're reliable and punctual, and you're looking for a long-term role where you can make a real, measurable difference
