Most care jobs feel like you're just clocking hours. This one isn't. You'll be driving young people with learning disabilities out into their community, building real relationships, and genuinely changing how they experience their week - while working alongside a team that actually invests in your growth and wellbeing

Picture this: you start the morning helping someone plan their day and get breakfast sorted. By afternoon, you're out in the community - maybe supporting someone to learn cooking skills, maybe just enjoying a walk and a chat. Every shift looks different because every person you support is different. You're not following a script; you're building trust, celebrating progress, and being someone who genuinely matters in their life

The team here works with real purpose. You'll communicate openly, make decisions that count, and get proper support when you need it. There's no pretence - just people who show up because they care about doing this work well. Training and clear progression pathways mean you're not stuck: you can grow into new responsibilities and develop skills that actually matter to you

And here's the bit most care employers skip: they actually take care of the people who care for others. Life insurance at 2x your salary, 24/7 access to virtual GP and mental health support, a structured rota with genuine overtime opportunities, and an employee wellbeing app that's there when you need it. You won't feel squeezed or unsupported

What you will be doing

  • Support young people with learning disabilities to plan and enjoy their days, helping with everything from breakfast to community outings
  • Drive the mobility cars to help young people access their local community and enjoy new experiences - you'll need to be a confident driver and comfortable with this
  • Use Makaton or other communication methods to connect with and support the people you work with (or learn if you're keen to develop this skill)
  • Help young people develop life skills like cooking and budgeting, and support them to join in with hobbies and activities they enjoy
  • Work flexibly across the service, collaborating with the wider team to meet needs wherever they arise

Why you will love working here

  • Life insurance worth 2x your salary - genuine financial peace of mind for you and the people who matter to you
  • 24/7 access to a virtual GP, mental health support, nutrition advice, and a wellbeing app (via Wisdom) - healthcare and support whenever you need it, not just during office hours
  • A structured rota that works for you, with real flexibility to pick up overtime when it suits your life
  • Proper training and clear progression pathways so you're not stuck in the same role year after year - you can actually grow here
  • Refer a friend and earn a £500 bonus when they join; recognition schemes that celebrate what you achieve

Is this you?

  • You're 25 or older (this is an insurance requirement, so it's non-negotiable)
  • You're a confident driver comfortable handling the mobility cars and supporting young people to get around safely
  • You've got experience supporting young people with learning disabilities and you understand how to put the person at the centre of what you do
  • You're familiar with Makaton or other communication methods - or you're genuinely keen to learn this as part of the role
  • You know your local community well and you actually enjoy helping young people get involved in activities and opportunities around them
