Most manager roles in children's care feel like you're drowning in paperwork whilst the real work - changing young people's lives - gets squeezed into the margins. This is different. We're looking for a Registered Manager who wants to lead a team, shape a home's culture, and be recognised for delivering outstanding care. If you've got the experience and the drive, this role comes with real autonomy, real support, and real financial reward
You'll be leading the day-to-day life of a children's home where every policy, every team decision, every admission matters. This isn't about ticking boxes for Ofsted - though the £3,000 bonus for an Outstanding report shows we genuinely invest in excellence. You'll have accountability for the physical, emotional and social development of the young people in your care, working with a team you've recruited, inducted and grown yourself. That's the kind of work that stays with you
Your leadership shapes everything: the rota you build, the staff you develop, the admissions you oversee, the relationships you forge with external agencies. You'll attend management forums, lead psychotherapy and leadership meetings, and contribute to how the whole service evolves. This is a senior role with genuine influence over practice and policy - not a middle manager squeezed between competing demands
The provider backs their managers properly. A company pension, employee discount scheme with access to 740+ retailers, on-call payments (£25 weekdays, £35 weekends), petrol allowance, and a full occupancy bonus of £400 a month on top of your salary up to £64,280. Twenty-five days annual leave plus eight statutory holidays means you can actually switch off. You'll work towards or hold a Level 5 Diploma (or equivalent) and have the support to get there
What you will be doing
- Lead and manage your team of care workers day to day, ensuring high-quality care delivery in line with legislation, Ofsted SCCIF standards and organisational policy, with a focus on each young person's physical, psychological, emotional and social development
- Take ownership of recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisals and continuous professional development for all staff; oversee mandatory training and maintain rotas
- Manage the service budget, monitor financial transactions, ensure premises and equipment meet requirements, and hit financial targets
- Oversee all admissions and discharges, liaise with commissioners and referrals, and keep meticulous records on young people and staff
- Chair internal and external meetings, write evaluative reports, and represent the home positively with other professionals and agencies
- Take on-call and sleep-in shifts as required to cover gaps, and investigate grievances, complaints and disciplinary matters in line with policy
