Most management roles in children's care feel like endless compliance boxes and firefighting. This one is different: you'll lead a small home (one to three children, aged 11-17) where your leadership directly shapes outcomes, culture and the futures of young people facing real emotional and behavioural challenges. If you're ready to step into a role where your decisions matter and your growth is actively invested in, read on

Picture this: you're the Registered Manager of a intimate home where you know every young person deeply, understand their individual needs, and lead a small, tight team who share your vision. You're not drowning in corporate layers. Your decisions get implemented. You see the results of your leadership in real time - in how the children settle, how staff develop, and in the care quality that gets inspected and celebrated

This provider invests in you as a leader. You'll get management coaching, one-to-one and group supervision, and a clear progression route towards a Responsible Individual position. They're building leaders here, not just filling vacancies. You'll be part of a caring, collaborative team that genuinely values innovation and continuous learning - not just talks about it

The home you manage will operate to strict standards: the home Regulations, the Children Act, Health and Safety, Working Together to Safeguard Children. You'll ensure every policy is lived, every child has tailored care planning, and safeguarding sits at the heart of everything. This is serious, important work. And you'll do it with real support behind you

What you will be doing

  • Lead and manage the home's day-to-day operations, staff supervision and development, ensuring your team has the skills, experience and qualifications to meet each child's needs
  • Own safeguarding, care planning and placement planning - ensuring each young person's individual needs shape their support and outcomes
  • Ensure full compliance with the home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, the Children's Act 1989, Data Protection, Health and Safety, and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015
  • Produce monitoring reports, statistical data and evaluations on time, tracking quality and compliance across the home
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with the wider team around the child - schools, social workers, families, multi-agency partners - to promote the best outcomes for looked after children
  • Embed equality and diversity in the home's culture and lead the home in an aspirational way that inspires both the young people and your staff

Why you will love working here

  • Salary of £55,000 - £60,000 per annum, plus 10% bonus and an additional £1,000 bonus for your first child placed. Dual registration roles command £80,000 p/a plus a company vehicle
  • Generous annual leave: 32 days rising to 35 days, giving you real time to recharge
  • Management coaching, one-to-one and group supervision, and a clear career progression route towards Responsible Individual status within the organisation
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, working in a small, supportive team where you'll actually get to know your colleagues and the young people you serve

  • Are you holding (or willing to work towards) a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services, or equivalent?
  • Have you worked with children in the last 5 years, with at least 1 year at senior or supervisory level? Management or supervision experience is essential
