Most Registered Manager roles in children's residential feel like you're drowning in compliance and politics, with little real support and even less chance to lead with genuine impact. This is different. We're looking for someone ready to build a trauma-informed home where therapeutic excellence, clinical backing and real career progression aren't just promises - they're what happens every single day

You'll be leading a 4-bed EBD home where the model actually works because the whole system is built to support you. Imagine having your own dedicated psychologist and therapist embedded within your team, plus a regional clinical team trained in trauma-informed practice. No more fighting battles alone - you'll have expert advisors right there when you need them, helping you turn real understanding of trauma into real outcomes for the young people in your care

Building a high-performing care team gets easier when you know you're backed by genuine leadership development. You'll be coached and mentored as you develop future leaders within your own home, with a whole organisation of career pathways beyond you. Many of our managers have progressed into senior leadership roles - the difference here is they actually had the support and clinical framework to get there, not just ambition and luck

The children and young people you work with will be at the centre of everything. You'll drive excellence in safeguarding, manage the budgets that matter, shape service development that's rooted in what works - and do it all knowing you're part of a team that values your wellbeing as much as theirs. The Ofsted rating speaks for itself: rated Good across all areas, with culture and leadership that's built to stay that way

What you will be doing

  • Lead and embed a trauma-informed, therapeutic approach across the home, with hands-on support from your assigned psychologist and therapist
  • Build, coach and develop a high-performing care team, nurturing future leaders and creating a positive, child-centred culture
  • Drive outstanding outcomes for the young people in your care whilst maintaining excellence in safeguarding, compliance and quality
  • Manage operational performance, budgets and service development - with the backing of experienced clinical and specialist advisors
  • Work closely with your Regional Manager and central clinical teams to shape care that's rooted in evidence and responsive to need

Why you will love working here

  • Salary up to £50,000 plus a £5,000 welcome bonus to start strong, and a 21% annual bonus that rewards real performance
  • Your own embedded clinical team - a dedicated psychologist and therapist working directly with your home, plus regional specialist advisors
  • 32 days annual leave (including bank holidays), enhanced maternity and paternity support, life assurance worth 2x your salary, and a pension scheme you can actually grow
  • Ongoing training and development backed by an award-winning Learning and Development team, plus genuine career progression with real pathways into senior leadership across the organisation
  • Wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Programme, Blue Light card discounts, EPIC awards that recognise your impact each month, and a staff referral scheme where you can split a £500 bonus with a friend you bring to the team

Is this you?

  • You've got at least 2 years' supervisory experience in children's residential care, and you understand what trauma-informed practice actually means
  • You hold, or are actively working towards, a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and the provider (Children and Young People's management qualification)
  • You know the Children Act 1989, the home Regulations and safeguarding procedures inside out - and you live them every day
  • You've managed budgets and can handle the operational side of running a home without losing sight of the children
  • You hold a full driving licence and are based where you can reach Thurrock reliably
