Most care home manager roles ask you to choose between delivering genuine quality and hitting targets. This one doesn't. We're looking for someone who can lead a thriving 27-bed home, build a team that actually stays, and create the kind of place where residents don't just live - they flourish. If you've got the CQC track record and the leadership spine to prove it, this could be the role that lets you do both
Picture this: a home where the gardens are genuinely used, where arts and crafts happen because residents love them, not because they're ticked off a box. Where dance classes bring real joy, where private terraces mean residents have space to breathe. You'll be managing a team large enough to make real systems work, in a setting where quality of life and sound operations aren't pulling in different directions
You'll have full P&L ownership - that means you're not just executing someone else's vision, you're building it. Staff recruitment, retention, training: these become your domain. You'll lead with both compassion and commercial sense, bringing people along on the journey toward CQC excellence. The home's reputation grows because you're making it genuinely better, not because you're chasing occupancy numbers without substance
This is the kind of role where 'professional development' isn't a benefits-list phrase. You'll be developing yourself daily through leading operational complexity, stakeholder relationships, and continuous improvement. The team you build will look to you for direction and feel supported enough to stay
What you will be doing
- Lead day-to-day operations of a 27-bed home, ensuring high-quality personalised care that meets CQC standards and resonates with residents' actual needs
- Build, recruit, train and retain a professional team - managing staffing levels, motivation and performance to create stability and continuity for residents
- Manage the home's profit and loss within budget, balancing commercial sustainability with genuine quality provision
- Maintain and grow occupancy through marketing, reputation-building and stakeholder relationships - working with families, commissioners and external partners
- Oversee compliance with CQC requirements, business governance and operational policies; drive action plans for continuous improvement
Why you will love working here
- Salary starting from £45,000 per annum, plus generous annual bonus
- Employee of the Month recognition and long-term service awards that mark genuine contribution
- Blue Light Card access for you and your family
- Structured professional development so you keep growing as a leader
- Refer a Friend scheme - share a great opportunity and benefit when your recommendations join the team
Is this you?
- You hold a Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care (or equivalent Diploma level 5 in Health and Social Care)
- You've successfully managed a care home rated CQC 'good' or above, with proven track record in operational and financial delivery
- You're naturally compassionate but also assertive - an inspirational leader who brings positive change without losing sight of the bottom line
- You communicate clearly, both written and verbal, and you build genuine relationships with staff, residents, families and external stakeholders
- You work independently but thrive when leading large teams; you see CQC compliance and resident wellbeing as the same goal, not competing priorities
