Most manager roles in residential care ask you to do the impossible: lead a team, hold regulatory responsibility, and somehow still find time to actually improve young people's lives. This one is different. We are looking for a Registered Manager who can step into a leadership position where your vision for excellence, your understanding of therapeutic practice, and your ability to build and develop staff teams will genuinely shape the culture of a children's home and the outcomes for the young people in your care

Picture yourself leading a home where every member of staff understands the PACE model of therapeutic parenting, where safeguarding is woven into daily practice, and where Quality of Life Plans drive real, measurable progress for young people. That is the environment you will build. You will hold the legal responsibility and the day-to-day leadership to make it happen, supported by clear reporting lines to a Head of Services who gives you the autonomy to lead

Your role is to set the standard for everything: how the home looks and feels, how staff interact with young people, how professional development happens, and how regulatory requirements translate into excellent practice. You will coach your team through supervisions and formal professional development, challenge poor practice with integrity, and actively monitor quality across all aspects of service delivery using regulatory reporting mechanisms. This is leadership that matters

You will respond to referrals, match young people to placements, aspire to full occupancy, and hit organisational KPIs. But more than that, you will lead the strategic development of the home as a therapeutic, homely environment. You will oversee risk management, vigilance around supervision, and the welfare of every young person. It is real responsibility, real impact, and a real opportunity to grow as a manager

What you will be doing

  • Hold legal responsibility for the registered children's home and provide leadership to your staff team, reporting to the Head of Services
  • Lead safeguarding practice, developing your team's knowledge and resolving safeguarding matters in line with the home Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards 2015
  • Co-ordinate the development and delivery of Quality of Life Plans for young people, setting goals, monitoring progress, and leading the care process with other professionals
  • Manage staff recruitment, development, and supervision; role model the PACE model of therapeutic parenting and coordinate formal professional development so learning is applied and reflected upon
  • Actively monitor all aspects of service delivery for quality and standards using regulatory reporting mechanisms (Regulation 33/45/32/44), and provide regular feedback to staff on performance
  • Oversee the physical environment, domestic standards, resources, and risk management plans; ensure the home is a safe, therapeutic, and homely space

Why you will love working here

  • Full time, permanent position with a provider committed to developing your leadership and professional practice
  • Clear management accountability, regulatory responsibility, and the autonomy to shape the culture and standards of the home
  • Access to formal professional development programmes and a personal development plan agreed with your line manager to support your own growth
  • The opportunity to lead a team dedicated to therapeutic parenting and high-quality care, where your vision for excellence directly impacts young people's lives and outcomes

Is this you?

  • Are you registered as a manager with Ofsted or do you hold the Early Years childcare qualification or equivalent professional status in children's services?
  • Do you have a comprehensive understanding of the home Regulations 2015, Quality Standards 2015, and the legislative framework that underpins residential care?
  • Are you familiar with the PACE model of therapeutic parenting and able to embed it across a staff team through training, supervision, and practice development?
  • Can you lead with integrity and child-centred practice, making decisions in the best interests of young people and holding your team to the same standard?
  • Do you have experience managing and developing staff teams, providing clear direction, feedback, and professional support?
