Most Registered Manager roles in children's residential care ask you to lead alone, stretched thin between compliance paperwork and the actual work of supporting young people. This one is different. We're looking for someone who wants to build a properly-functioning home where safeguarding is lived, not just ticked off, and where you get real support to do the job well
As Registered Manager, you'll hold the licence and set the culture. That means every policy, every team decision, every response to a young person in crisis flows from your leadership. You'll be the person who decides whether this home runs on fear and corners cut, or on thoughtfulness, consistency and genuine care. The young people here notice that difference on day one
You won't be managing in isolation. You'll work with a stable team who respect the role because you've earned it. Your days will split between the strategic (safeguarding audits, staff development, Ofsted readiness, liaison with social workers) and the real (being present in the home, knowing the young people, spotting when something is shifting before it breaks). That mix keeps the work alive
This is a home that invests in its leadership. Your qualification, your experience, your judgment matters. You'll have the autonomy to shape how this place runs, backed by a provider who understands that good management means good outcomes for the young people in your care
What you will be doing
- Hold the licence and responsibility for safeguarding, quality of care and compliance with regulations across the home
- Lead and develop your staff team, setting standards and providing the supervision and support they need to do good work
- Build and maintain relationships with social workers, families, schools and other agencies; represent the home professionally
- Oversee the day-to-day wellbeing and development of the young people in the home, knowing them well and responding to their changing needs
- Manage finances, staffing rotas, training schedules and all the operational detail that keeps the home running safely and effectively
- Prepare for and respond to inspections, audits and safeguarding reviews with honest, reflective practice
Why you will love working here
- A genuine leadership role where your decisions shape the home and your experience is trusted
- A salary that reflects the responsibility and expertise this role demands
- Support for your ongoing professional development and continued qualification
- A stable team and a provider committed to getting the basics right: proper staffing levels, training that actually happens, and time for the work that matters
- The chance to build something that works, where young people feel safe and staff feel supported
Is this you?
- You have a valid Level 3 qualification in childcare, health and social care, or equivalent professional background (teaching, nursing, social work all count)
- You hold or are working towards your Registered Manager qualification, or have substantial prior experience managing children's residential provision
- You are aged 21 or over and able to obtain an enhanced DBS clearance
- You bring real experience working with children and young people, ideally in a residential or complex support setting
- You're someone who leads by example: you can model the safeguarding culture, the boundaries and the compassion you expect from your team
Applications close on 12 October 2026. Great roles like this are filled quickly, so the sooner you apply the better.
Safeguarding: We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
