Most manager roles in residential care ask you to juggle crises, paperwork and people without giving you the autonomy or support to actually lead. This one is different. We're looking for an experienced registered manager who's ready to take the helm of a residential children's home, shape a nurturing team culture, and make a real difference in children's lives - with the backing and clarity to do it properly
This is a role where your leadership directly impacts how children experience safety, stability and growth. You'll oversee every aspect of the home's operations, from the daily rhythms of care to safeguarding compliance, knowing that your decisions shape the environment where vulnerable young people rebuild trust and move forward. You're not drowning in tasks you delegate down; you're actively steering the ship
You'll manage a team of dedicated care staff, providing the mentorship, clarity and support they need to do their best work. That means addressing challenges head-on, celebrating wins together, and creating a workplace where people feel valued and equipped. Good management in children's residential care is rare - and when it happens, staff stay, children thrive, and the whole home runs better
Your day involves real leadership: liaising with families, schools, social workers and other professionals to join up care around each child. You'll handle budgeting, resource allocation and record-keeping that actually matters. And when emergencies arise, you're the steady hand in the room. This is management with purpose, not busy work dressed up as responsibility
What you will be doing
- Hold overall responsibility for the home's operations, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance, ensuring the service meets all required standards
- Lead, manage and support the staff team, providing guidance, supervision and development to foster a positive, nurturing culture
- Oversee administrative and financial management including budgeting, resource allocation and record-keeping
- Liaise with external agencies, professionals, families and social workers to ensure coordinated, effective care for each child
- Respond to emergencies and incidents with calm, decisive leadership, prioritising the safety and welfare of children and staff
Why you will love working here
- A competitive salary of £45,000 depending on your experience and qualifications, reflecting the seniority and responsibility of the role
- The autonomy to lead a residential children's home as a registered manager should work - with clear accountability and the backing to make decisions
- A direct reporting line to the service manager, giving you structured support and a clear point of escalation
- The opportunity to shape team culture, develop staff, and create an environment where children can genuinely heal and progress
Is this you?
- Are you a registered manager with the experience and credibility to lead a residential children's home with confidence?
- Do you understand what good safeguarding, compliance and operational leadership looks like in children's residential care?
- Can you inspire and develop a team, create clarity around expectations, and model the values you want to see in your staff?
- Are you comfortable with the full scope of management - from strategic decisions to getting involved in day-to-day care when needed?
- Do you have the emotional intelligence and resilience to lead a team caring for vulnerable children through complex situations?
