Most Registered Manager roles ask you to maintain what's already there. This one asks you to create it. We're seeking an experienced Registered Manager ready to lead a new children's home for young people with learning and physical disability, shaping the culture, recruitment, design and ethos from day one, working closely with your Deputy Manager to deliver truly exceptional care
Imagine walking into a home you've designed yourself. You've led the recruitment, set the tone, embedded the values, and built a team that lives them every day. Your Deputy Manager is at your side. The children in your care have complex physical and emotional needs, and they're going to remember the safety, stability and love you created here. That's not just a job title on your CV. That's a legacy
This is a chance to prove what trauma-informed, therapeutic care actually looks like when it's done right. You'll champion PACE principles across everything the home does. You'll shape how your team approaches every interaction, every placement decision, every safeguarding moment. Your voice and your vision will define this place
You'll lead quality assurance processes, conduct Regulation 44 reviews, manage budgets with real autonomy, and supervise a team you've built yourself. You'll travel to visit children before they arrive, review their histories, understand their worlds. You'll ensure compliance with the home Regulations 2015 not as a box-tick exercise, but as genuine protection. You'll champion the voice of the child in every decision
Your development matters here too. You'll work towards or hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, and you'll be supported with sector-specific training that actually moves your career forward. Kind and Smart aren't just words on a wall. They're how we work with you
What you will be doing
- Lead on the culture, recruitment and design of a new children's home, setting the tone for safeguarding, ethos and quality from day one
- Ensure the home meets and exceeds the home Regulations 2015, Statement of Purpose and SCCIF standards, implementing timely action where needed
- Participate in placement referrals: request and review information, arrange visits to children's homes, placements and schools, including travel and overnight stays as required
- Conduct manager audits, Regulation 44 quality of care reviews and lead on Regulation 44 visits, with an emphasis on the voice of the child
- Supervise, appraise and develop your team, promoting trauma-informed, therapeutic care underpinned by PACE principles and continuous professional development
- Manage budgets effectively while maintaining high standards of care, and participate in senior out of hours on-call rota and regular on-call duties
Why you will love working here
- The rare chance to build a home from scratch: you shape the culture, recruitment, design, safeguarding ethos and team from day one
- Work closely with your Deputy Manager in a small organisation where your leadership style and vision genuinely define the place
- Sector-specific training and support to develop your Level 5 Diploma and thrive in your career, because your growth is our priority
- Lead on real quality assurance, Regulation 44 reviews and meaningful safeguarding work that puts children's voices at the centre
- Join a provider whose values - Kind, Smart, Brave, Safe - aren't corporate messaging but the way we actually treat each other and the children in our care
